July 9, 1995
Your hosts are Jim Ross and Todd Pettengill
The show starts off with the same Waylon Mercy vignette we saw on the 7/9 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Waylon Mercy defeats Scott Taylor from the 7/9 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
The announcers list off the ten lumberjacks named for the Diesel vs. Sid match at In Your House.
We get a promo from Sid & Ted DiBiase then Diesel as all of their handpicked lumberjacks will be named tomorrow night on RAW. DiBiase promises to bring the best lumberjacks money can buy. Diesel says his friends, heart, and pride are enough to retain the title.
1-2-3 Kid defeats Black Phantom from the 7/9 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Barry Didinsky shills the new 1-2-3 Kid that costs just $16.00 plus shipping & handling.
The announcers talk about the 1-2-3 Kid vs. Roadie match at In Your House then the Jeff Jarrett vs. Shawn Michaels match for the Intercontinental Title. Ross guarantees the IC Title match will steal the show. We hear from Shawn who says he will “dance, prance, and romance” everyone in the building and walk out with Jarrett’s baby, which is the Intercontinental Title. Also, we learn that Jarrett will sing “With My Baby Tonight” at the PPV.
We now get one of the introductory Jarrett vignettes. The one that featured Ronnie P. Gossett as they went to the record company office.
“With My Baby Tonight” video airs.
Recap of the Adam Bomb/Henry Godwinn confrontation from last week’s “Superstars” airs.
Savio Vega defeats Lloyd Lanui from the 7/9 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”
Footage from Jerry Lawler at Dr. Isaac Yankem’s office.
The In Your House ad airs.
Dok Hendrix’s interview with King Mabel & Sir Mo from “Wrestling Challenge” airs.
Barry Horowitz defeats Skip from the 7/9 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.”. On commentary here was Ross screaming “Horowitz wins!” a few times and how he now can be a star.
Hype video for tomorrow night’s Allied Powers vs. Tatanka & Henry Godwinn match.
Bob Backlund’s new campaign ad on Man Mountain Rock airs.
Man Mountain Rock defeats Bill Mack from the 7/9 edition of “Wrestling Challenge.” Jim Ross plugged the Superstar Line and how you can find out about the new arrivals to the WWF.
Clip from RAW with Henry Godwinn costing Bam Bam Bigelow his match against Sid.
Show ends with the announcers wondering whether or not Godwinn has joined The Corporation. Then, Pettengill says to join them next week and Ross says “you didnt’ hear” as the show ends. Pettengill would not be on the show next week. We will find out his replacement for that day would be.
Final Thoughts: This new, non-exclusive match format of Action Zone is essentially a studio show not shown in a studio with the hosts talking about and putting over various matches and feuds in the company. Very similar to the later format of All-American Wrestling. And with this and Challenge around they are both not needed. And one will get cancelled.
