Releases tomorrow?

Hi Scott,

If you had to cut 10% of the Superstar roster tomorrow as part of the rumoured major cuts company wide, who would you let go?

By rough count there are 91 Superstars listed on the WWE website, and this does not include the NXT roster from the looks it, so that would be 9 releases.

Cameron, Eva Marie, Adam Rose, Alex Riley, Jason Albert, Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga (doesn't need the gig anyway), Great Khali, Hunico, Rey Mysterio (like, come on, enough already), Rosa Mendes, Tom Phillips/Byron Saxton/Scott Stamford (basically the same person).  That's 14 and I guarantee no one will even notice any of them are gone.  For sure NXT doesn't need an announce team beyond Renee Young and William Regal and we sure as shit don't need to pay Alex Riley to give his "expert" opinion between PPV matches.  If you want to wittle it down to 9, then keep Rose and Del Rio around for the midcard and let two of the announcers stay on just in case.  Really, they keep a LOT of dead weight on the roster when they don't need to.  And it probably sounds harsh, but they could do with firing a whole bunch of the agents they have on staff as well.  Seriously, how many people do they need to book distraction finishes in every match?  Really, you can fire all the referees as well and use local indy guys for cheap if needed.  They only need two ring announcers at most as well.  There's still tons of payroll you can free up if you want.

More WWE Cuts Coming Tomorrow?

The following was reported by Dave Scherer of

We have heard that Mark Carrano, who works in Talent Relations under Triple H, is the man who made most, if not all, of the calls to the released talent today. It is fair to say that at least some of those let go would have appreciated that the call came from Triple H himself.
There is a lot of talk that the cuts/releases are not done and that there will be cuts on the administrative side of the company as well, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. Potential cuts loom across pretty much all departments.
The word making the rounds is that the current state of The WWE Network, its success or lack thereof, is what is precipitating cuts both in talent as well as potentially in office staff. That wouldn’t bode well for state of the Network base when they release the current subscriber numbers at the second quarter earnings conference call.
So it may very well may be that tomorrow continues Black Thursday into Black Friday.”
Not Looking to good for the WWE today.

Also, I will try to keep the blog updated with all of the cuts, if any, that will occur tonight through the weekend.

RAW Tomorrow

Dusty Rhodes is on RAW tomorrow.  Fitting given the ending of the PPV, I guess.  What an odd series of booking decisions in this Bad For Business feud.  All we need is Kevin Nash returning to stick the winner to complete the suck if they really do go with the Jericho 2000 "Stricken from the record and ref fired" non-finish.   Because hey, they can always bring in Road Dogg to avenge his brother or something.

UFC preview for tomorrow

Hi Scott,

Can you plug my UFC 155 preview article on your blog? I'll also be doing a full recap of the show on Saturday night/Sunday morning if anyone's interested.

Happy Christmas!

Adam Brennan

I'm picking Cain, by the way.  I think the injury was what cost him against Junior last time and he'll go back to demolishing opponents again now.
