It’s a rare live edition this week as it is also the go home show for this weekend’s Revolution pay per view. That could make things a bit more interesting, as we also have a title match. Sammy Guevara will be defending the TNT Title against Darby Allin and Andrade El Idolo, which should be a good one. Let’s get to it.

The SmarK Rant for the Monday Night War – 09.18.95

(Okey doke, here’s the September 18 1995 head-to-head version of RAW and Nitro, written in 2008ish from WWE 24/7, before we go to back to reposting the individual RAW and Nitro rants from the WWE Network again.)

(Hey, now that we’re into the Monday Night Wars era of the Observer Flashbacks, it’s TWO FOR ONE reposts!  This was originally done on WWF 24/7, when they would air both shows together, but I think after this I’ve got everything done as separate shows again for the next couple of years.)

WCW Monday Nitro!

– Live from Miami, FL

– Your hosts are Uncle Eric, Mongo and the Brain.  Sounds like a morning radio show, actually.

The SmarK Rant for The MONDAY NIGHT WAR – Episode 2

“The Rise of the nWo”

I know I should just stop watching this show before it REALLY makes me all angry, but my whole deal is that I’m a glutton for punishment, so I feel like I have little choice here but to continue on with it until the bitter end.

Plus it’s still better than Smackdown.

The SmarK 24/7 Rant for the Monday Night War – March 3 1997

Part One – Monday Night RAW!

– I decided to cave and try Microsoft Office 2007 instead of my faithful OpenOffice 2.0 for a while, if only because it seems to mesh better with Vista. So if it suddenly screws up my formatting, that’s who to blame.  (Man, Microsoft definitely won THAT battle for my computer in the long run!)

– Taped from Berlin, Germany

– Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jim Ross & Honky Tonk Man.

The SmarK Rant for WCW Monday Nitro – 02.17.97

OK, continuing with the Monday Night Wars!

Live from Tampa, FL, in a show that drew 3000 to a fairground with free admission, so it wasn’t much for gate. Was still a better and more enthusiastic crowd than the RAW one in Nashville, though.

For those who don’t want to wait until we get here with the Observer Flashbacks, it’s this point where Dave announces that they’re developing a SECOND two-hour live show for TBS. That one had quite the development period, since it didn’t arrive until 1998.

The SmarK 24/7 Rant for the Monday Night War – February 3 1997

– Welcome to the 2 hour era of Monday Night RAW, as these shows are now a little over 3 hours total, and I’m sure they’ll have to be split up for technical reasons pretty soon.  (Ha ha, NOPE.  In fact they just dodged the issue completely by dropping the 1997 version of the show and restarting back in 1995 again, before the channel was cancelled completely a few weeks later.  I have a month missing in my archives, so I’ll have to redo those ones for February, and then about a month’s worth of these left over from March ’97 before I’m gonna have to start reviewing the shows for real again, by the way.  My current feeling is alternating weeks of RAW and then Nitro, because two hours a week is about the most I can take.  Like holy hell, how did I get the time to retreat to my office and do these monstrosities for four hours at a time back in 2007?  No wonder my wife never saw me.  Also, thank JEBUS that this is the point where I ditched that stupid new format for the rants and went back to the classic way.  Every time I read one of them I want to go back and rewrite the match results properly.)

The SmarK 24/7 Rant for The Monday Night War – January 27 1997

– This will be my last rant for a week or so, as we’re moving and the cable doesn’t get hooked up until next Tuesday. How I will live without 24/7 for a week, I honestly don’t know.  (Backstory!  This was written around 2007, and we were moving because we were kicked out of our dream apartment due to the building getting sold for condos.  It was wonderful, because there was a second bathroom and I had my own office for writing and a FIREPLACE and everything. The real kick in the pants is that we actually repainted it ourselves because we wanted to make it perfect, and then they decided to use our place as the show room because we did such a good job on it.  We were then kicked out of the NEXT place we rented as well, because the owners also sold the property, and finally bought our own house in 2010 and we’ve been there ever since.  Unfortunately I have no office now and only one bathroom, but at least we know we’re not getting the property sold out from under us.)

The SmarK 24/7 Rant for The Monday Night War – January 13 1997

(Holy cow, the battle for the PPV redo is TIGHT, with the winner coming via the narrowest of margins.  Tune in tomorrow morning to see who wins!)

WCW MONDAY NITRO!

– Live from New Orleans, LA.  (This was actually a notable show for business reasons, as it was the first Nitro to top 10,000 in attendance and did the biggest gate in WCW history in New Orleans.)

The SmarK Rant for the Monday Night Wars–01.07.97

(Apparently I’ve already got these done until, like, February of 97, so we’ll keep going through the perfectly fine 2007 rants to save me a lot of time and give more time to write Observer Flashbacks!)

The SmarK 24/7 Rant for The Monday Night War – January 6 1997

– Man, time flies, as we’re now into 97 and rapidly approaching the point where these shows are gonna be like 5 hours long.  (That’s 5/7 of a Wrestlemania!)
