Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

RAW is going to try to do better this week. A couple of tag title matches are on the docket and a bunch of other stuff. Hopefully not an overload of Strowman again.

A full NHL, NBA and MLB schedule will give you plenty of opportunities to talk real sports.

AEW Dark is also streaming.

I hope everyone is well.

RAW is tonight. Who knows what the card will be once Vince arrived, but as of now Bobby Lashley is scheduled on the show and we’ve got a tag match between T-Bar/Mace against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman. They let T-Bar and Mace speak last week, maybe they will give them better names.

Huge NBA schedule tonight, 11 games I think. MLB with 11 games as well and the NHL with eight games so there’s plenty to watch. AEW Dark Elevation is also streaming.

Wrestlemania 37 is now behind us and it was so nice to see the fans and feel that interaction. I did not attend and for the most part I don’t regret that decision, especially with the all the bad weather, but hearing that crowd for Drew McIntyre’s entrance was the one point during both nights when I kind of wanted to be there. I was happy for the wrestlers and the fans. I know a ton of people that did go and all seemed to have a lot of fun.

The best moments for me were the opening match Saturday, a really good power battle. The Bad Bunny/Miz tag match was super fun. The Saturday main event was wonderful and the hair whip shot that Bianca gave Sasha might be that all-time WM moment that the WWE is constantly trying to create. I still can’t get over how committed Sasha is to the business to let a legitimate top-end athlete basically hit her in the gut with something the equivalent of a bullwhip. That’s how bad she wanted to deliver in a main event match.

The highlight Sunday was the main event. Great match and great finish with Roman Reigns looking very dominant with a decisive win. Hard to say who the WWE will tab to beat him, but he looks like the type of monster heel that will have a long title run with a huge build to his eventual fall.

Now back to business. RAW is live tonight at the new Thunderdome on the campus of the University of South Florida. I wish they would have done another house with fans, but I understand. New RAW announce team tonight with a team of former ESPN guy Adnan Virk, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves. Virk, as some of you will remember, was fired from ESPN for leaking details of meetings to media members. So that’s interesting. I will say that Graves really impressed me with his call of Saturday’s Main Event. Most of the talk has been about Cole blowing the call on the pin, but Graves was really on his game in that match.

We have AEW Elevation streaming. Speaking of AEW, Chris Jericho does a two-hour broken skull session with Steve Austin and it’s not a bad watch at all. I appreciate Jericho a little more after watching the episode.

Wrestlemania 37 Night Two Thread of Doom

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

We’re back for Night Two of Wrestlemania. Once again rain is going to be an issue, but they should be able to get the matches started by 8 p.m.

There are night one recaps from Scott and Thomas out there and both are worth reading. Obviously the big news from Night One was Lashley retaining and Bianca Belair beating “Latina Heat” Sasha Banks for the Smackdown Women’s title.

Five title matches on deck for tonight.

It looks like most if not all the rain will pass before the start of the show. And the second bands of rain are coming through very very early in the AM so outdoor stadium show disaster is mostly averted.

We’ll just go with one thread. If it gets too bloated I’ll add a post-show thread.

Don’t mind me…just watching Aaron Rodgers host Jeopardy. Very surreal, but I think Alex Trebek would’ve LOVED it.

Anyway.

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

RAW is taped. I’m assuming Drew McIntyre gets to go over hired gun Baron Corbin, but don’t trust me. Watch it for yourself.

Crazy week for WWE programming with the rather abbreviated Hall of Fame ceremony tomorrow afternoon, two nights of NXT Takeover, a taped Smackdown and two nights of Wrestlemania. Still not going. Got offered tickers multiple times. My likelihood of going has been upgraded from “not at all” to “doubtful”.

Wrestlemania III and Wrestlemania X-8 new fresh reviews from Scott are on the blog. Just thinking about Wrestlemania III always makes me smile. Such a simpler time.

AEW Dark Elevation is streaming right now…I think.

Big sporting event tonight is the Men’s NCAA Basketball championship game between Gonzaga and Baylor. There’s a ton of baseball on too.

Meanwhile…The Artists Collective EXPLODES…years before it was created. Awesome match BTW.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I am officially fully vaccinated. Feeling good. No real side effects. My husband seems to have a bit of a runny nose, but I think that’s more to do with his pollen allergies than anything. It was a very smooth process.

That being said we won’t be going to Wrestlemania this year despite many ticket offers. Tough choice. Part of me wants to go, but a bigger part of me wants the whole Wrestlemania experience from the Fan Access to the NXT show and the Hall of Fame and the other promotions that run cards in the city during the week. Definitely considering doing it next time it’s in the region, be it New Orleans, Atlanta, or obviously Orlando.

RAW is live tonight and will be facing super stiff competition from the NCAA Elite Eight games so expected a downtick in the ratings.

Congratulations to Charly Caruso Arnott for signing a contract with ESPN to become a full-time employee. She had a very sweet good bye to the WWE on her Instagram. She was yanked from TV a few weeks ago.

There’s a list of Wrestlemania matches from worst to best…counting 356 of them. I think putting Crush-Savage that low is criminal. I remember it being a fun brawl. But it’s mostly the gimmicky matches or Playboy Bunny matches or other bathroom break crap. The list is here.

Scott has a review of the recent NWA PPV and I quite enjoyed the read.

Rhea Ripley thinks Charlotte might get in her match with Asuka because “she gets her way”. Not sure if I would’ve said that one in a public forum. But the New York Post interview is good.

Last week of WWE Network before the full Peacock move so you guys get your blackface fix in while you can! I’ve been watching a lot of NXT stuff I missed first time around. I think I’m going to try to watch Starrcade 1986 this week. If someone wants to do a live watch we can figure something out.

Here’s a match for you.

Try to keep it clean. Lot of dumbassery in the threads lately so stop it!

I hope everyone is doing well as we start spring, my favorite season of the year!

If you’re looking for Fastlane reviews, both Scott and Thomas have them up and seem to share pretty similar thoughts. I only watched the final hour and got two ****+ matches with something unwatchable in between them.

I’m starting to watch some matches I’ve been wanting to see before the WWE Network makes the full migration to Peacock. I watched the Revival vs. #DIY 2/3 falls match from NXT Toronto and it’s truly an amazing match. They did everything right. Probably going to watch both the Mustache Mountain vs. O’Reilly/Strong matches in the next 24.

We got RAW tonight as the final push to Wrestlemania starts. Charlotte seemed to be threatening to walk out on the show if they didn’t show her beau Andrade more respect and honor his wishes to be released. She got what she wanted so expect her back tonight. Rhea Ripley’s RAW debut is tonight.

LOT of NCAA basketball on and that’s probably what I’ll be watching but I think I’ll DVR Raw because I’m curious to see the build for the big card.

And here’s a hidden gem of a match for both guys.

It’s another Monday night and look at that the sun is still out!

RAW is live tonight as this is the go home show for Fastlane I believe. Asuka is expected to make her return so hopefully her concussion issues are past and she’s a full go for Wrestlemania.

AEW Dark Elevation is streaming right now I believe.

The big mid-day news is that there’s another CoVID-19 scare in NXT because people are still careless.

Lots of hockey tonight and a ton of NCAA basketball preview stuff, plus NFL Free Agency so all kinds of things for you to talk about.

WHOA….Check out this gem of a match.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I got my first vaccine shot today. My arm hurts and I have an urge to scale walls and shoot evildoers with the beams from my eyes, but otherwise I’m good.

Both Scott and Thomas have reviews up on AEW Revolution. Scott loved it. Thomas not so much. Both hated the ending. It was a major botch for sure. But those have happened before and will happen again.

RAW will have to be pushing toward Fastlane and Wrestlemania. I would assume they will start whatever program Lashley is going to get into with a little more than a month remaining after his rematch with Miz tonight (which should be shorter than the first match).

I hope everyone is having a good week and a great Monday night so far.

RAW is live as they continue to countdown to Fastlane/Wrestlemania. I’m not sure what the plan is for tonight’s card but I think there’s something happening with the Miz and Bobby Lashley. Hopefully the title switch is quick and we can all move on right?

Here’s Big E putting in that work in the weight room.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. There are Elimination Chamber reviews on the board from Scott and Thomas for your reading pleasure. I thought it was a decent show with a couple of missed opportunities. It looks like at least Roman Reigns vs. Edge is confirmed for Wrestlemania.

Outside of a new RAW there are nine NHL games and six NBA games if you want another kind of sports fix.

I hope everyone had a fine weekend. I have to say that last night’s NXT Takeover show was along the lines of the Takeovers they had a few years ago when it just seemed like they could do no wrong. Everyone worked hard. There is potentially a very hot situation coming from the end of the card and I found myself really enjoying the MSK — Grizzly Young Vets match. There was some great intensity in that match.

And now we go to RAW. Maybe it will be watchable. Who knows? I think I’ll jump in late after I watch this hockey game.

Here’s Piper and Valentine beating each other up.

I hope you had a fine weekend. There was a football game and Tom Brady’s deal with Satan was extended for another year. Oh well. Happy I don’t literally live in Tampa.

RAW is live tonight and without any football to challenge it. They are running McIntyre vs. Orton again because God forbid there isn’t another matchup to try. Why not Drew vs. Lashley or Shelton Benjamin or Jeff Hardy or Riddle or anyone that would feel a little different and fresh? Do something RAW!!

Anyway enjoy the night, I’m tired.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. The 34th edition of the Royal Rumble was last night. I thought it was a pretty fun card with nothing too bad and everything moving well. Goldberg looked horrible and it would’ve been a travesty for him to go over McIntyre.

The first RAW after the Royal Rumble usually has something noteworthy happening to gain some steam for the upcoming Wrestlemania. So expect a whole bunch of stuff resulting from last night.

Meanwhile you can comment on this thread, on either of the Royal Rumble rants or debate the popularity of Bad Bunny.

Another day, another billion-dollar deal for the WWE. It happens.

Plenty of discussion on that from multiple threads and there will surely be more tonight as people digest what it means. For me it means paying $5/month instead of $10 so I’ll probably just use the $60 I save annually on holiday pajamas. Tom Brady continues to haunt my world and now he’s legitimately way too close to home. But on the plus side Conor McGregor got knocked out.

RAW is tonight. They are going to wheel out Goldberg again hoping that we care. And Alexa Bliss is being booked like a monster again for some reason and gets a shot at ASUKA. The most interesting thing for me is Matt Riddle trying to fight the Hurt Business gauntlet to earn a U.S. Title shot. There’s potential for a decent match or two in there.

And now some Rumble Final Fours of the past.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It’s a pretty slow Monday and there’s a good chance tonight’s RAW will once again be a little different thanks to COVID and some other injuries. I see there’s an Asuka vs. Alexa Bliss match and that’s a surprise because I didn’t think Alexa was working many matches, if any, these days.

No football out there. A full slate of NBA and NHL games started this afternoon and continue into the evening. The Nets-Bucks and Lakers-Warriors games are on TNT, while the Sabres-Flyers and Coyotes-Golden Knights are the nationally televised games for the NHL.

Here’s a Memphis brawl to keep you entertained.

I hope everyone had a nice, safe weekend. It appears that, at least according to reports, all nationally televised brands will be jobbing to COVID-19 for the next couple of weeks. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is the first reported positive case I’ve heard. RAW is being completely re-written by Triple H so it probably won’t be as bad as normal. I am actually a little intrigued to see what he does.

That being said the College Football Playoff championship game between Alabama and Ohio State is happening tonight so I expect that to take a bite out of the ratings.

Otherwise I just hope everyone is doing well. Excuse my French, but there’s a lot of fuckery happening out there right now and hard not to be a little dismayed.

And today’s weird promo features Roddy Piper appreciating Ricky Steamboat’s time in the gym and Steamboat barking like a dog…Oh if cocaine could speak the stories it would tell.

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, the first one of 2021. I also hope people got all their gripes about who loved Jon Huber more out of their system. FWIW I thought both the WWE and AEW did the right thing. He was a member of the AEW roster and got a beautiful tribute and send off from the group that employed him. As a former member of the WWE roster they did a nice job of acknowledging him and letting the talent add their own tributes. It wasn’t a contest of who did it better, but rather a rare opportunity where it seemed like everyone collaborated to do the right thing.

Moving on it’s the first RAW of 2021. It’s Legends Night and what the WWE hopes will be a cheap way to pop a rating. Makes sense with the Monday Night Football schedule over. The usual names like Hogan, Austin, Flair, etc. will be there. Maybe someone announces for the Rumble. Personally I wish they would bring back more obscure legends. I want to see Haku make an appearance and squeeze an apple, gouge out someone’s eyes or something. Why doesn’t Tito Santana get a Legends invite? He was a two-time Intercontinental champion. How about Rick Martel randomly showing up still doing the Model gimmick in his mid-60s?

Anyway. Keith Lee vs. Drew McIntyre gets all the watch time from me.

And some fun from Piper’s Pit
