It’s another Monday and it’s the go home RAW for the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV. Xavier Woods vs. Jinder Mahal and Doudrop vs. Shayna Baszler, the semifinals of the King/Oueen of the Ring stuff, are advertised. I’m sure there is a bunch of other stuff that will happen like a Big E/Drew confrontation and probably something with Charlotte.

Still no word on the Ratings battle from Friday night as of 4:30 p.m. Smackdown had better numbers in the overnights, but nothing has been disclosed since.

Help Rhea Ripley find her wrestling gear!

Titans-Bills is YOUR Monday night game. Might be a pretty good one.

Red Sox-Astros is YOUR MLB Playoff game. So a pretty packed sports night.

AEW is streaming a show too.

Enjoy.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. What a fight Saturday. It was fun to host a fight night for the first time in God knows how long and see some friends in person again.

Tonight we got RAW. Not sure what’s on but it’ll probably be related to a push toward Crown Jewel. Colts-Ravens is your Monday Night game, kind of an eh? matchup.

Rays-Red Sox and Dodgers-Giants are YOUR MLB playoff games tonight. Hopefully the Rays can survive after getting jobbed last night (yeah yeah…I know it’s the “rule”).

AEW is streaming. And that’s all I got.

I’m out here on the west coast finishing up a trip and hopefully heading home in a few hours. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

RAW is live tonight with the second part of the Draft. The first part on Smackdown led to ratings bump. Maybe I’ll jump in the chat once I get through airport security and track who else has been drafted. Hoping L.A. Knight gets the bump up.

Chargers-Raiders is YOUR Monday Night game.

AEW has a show streaming tonight as well.

Extreme Rules happened last night. I liked it. Some people didn’t. It’s cool. Tommy and Scott have reviews. Read them if you like.

RAW is tonight. Big E vs. Lashley for the title has been advertised.

Cowboys-Eagles is tonight.

Elevation is either streaming now or was streaming.

I think I might skip the Kanyon DSOTR review for now. Might circle back and do the Dynamite Kid one or maybe look at both of them and not overdo the writing. Maybe I’ll add Chyna’s documentary in there too because that one was REALLY depressing.

This episode is titled: “The Plane Ride from Hell”

Oh boy…Been really sandbagging on this one for a few days.

“When you have an open bar and you’re sitting there for seven hours, of course these things are going to happen.” — Tommy Dreamer justifying everything.

“If I never talked about the f****** plane ride from hell again in my life, I would be very happy.” — Jim Ross

Hello Blog O’Doomers!

I hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend in this final day and a half of summer.

RAW is live tonight and with Monday Night Football back on the schedule, the sports entertainment show has decided to boost things up a bit. New Day vs. Bloodline is on the match list and any time The Tribal Chief brings himself to RAW it’s an important show.

Scott has dueling Nitro and RAW reviews from 1996.

I haven’t watched the full Dark Side of the Ring episode yet. It was a busy weekend. But I will tonight and have that review available tomorrow.

Lions-Packers is the Monday Night Football match.

Here’s Cornette talking about the Plane Ride from Hell episode.

NFL Football returns to Monday Night and there’s a special caveat as ESPN2 has the Manning Brothers added an alternate broadcast that might actually get better ratings than the regular one. It’s a Ravens-Raiders matchup by the way.

RAW is on and to combat this with a match between Bobby Lashley and Randy Orton. Big E has also claimed he will cash in his briefcase tonight. We’ll see.

Sorry for you admirers of Doudrop/Piper Niven, she is officially off the market after getting married this past weekend.

Elevators is streaming.

I hope everyone had a spectacular, especially those of us that are enjoying the extra day off. We have PLENTY to read here today. Both Scott and Tommy have All Out reviews, it sounds like a bang-up show. End of the day I like college football more than wrestling and Saturday afternoon we decided to take a friend up on invite and went to Tallahassee for FSU-Notre Dame. Actually we were a little further west to my hometown to see some friends and then went to the game Sunday. Definitely a great football game. I gave the game ****3/4 and the whole weekend *****.

More college football tonight as Louisville plays Ole Miss in Atlanta. RAW is live. No idea of the show. Vince has probably ripped it up and wrote it again himself and frankly it made last week’s show a little more interesting. So we’ll see.

Still lots of baseball on as well and the NFL starts Thursday.

Quick thread post here. I hope everyone had a great weekend. There wasn’t too much going on this weekend. My best wishes for anyone that is or knows someone in the path of Hurricane Ida.

RAW is tonight. They are advertising an open challenge for the US Title so maybe we’ll get something out of it. Elevators is streaming. Got a full slate of MLB tonight as football is on the horizon.

Howdy!

A little early today because I am still at work and have a few more meetings to go.

Lots of wrestling this weekend. I watched very little of it but you have three days worth of reviews from Scott and Thomas to keep you occupied. CM Punk stuff was fun, watched the rest of Rampage and still not my jam although I liked the Moxley-Garcia match for as short as it was. And Jade Cargill looks like money from a visual standpoint.

Summerslam was ok. Hard to complain about not having new stars when you have Bianca and Rhea in the fold and are afraid to put them over Becky and Charlotte. I tried to make a point about the Four Horsewomen sucking the air out of the room, but that’s not fair because Sasha and Bayley try to elevate people. Hell Sasha put Bianca over the best she could and Bayley was going to follow suit before the injury. Instead all that work goes for nothing.

That being said I think Becky will work as a heel. Part of her charm was that she was positioned as the underdog that rose up. Even the New England Patriots were faces in 2001. But eventually people turn on the winner and she hasn’t lost in a long time so a win over her is going to be valuable thing. And she’s talented enough to figure it out.

RAW is tonight. Elevators is streaming.

Yes it’s me and despite attempts to imitate, there’s only one official Monday Night Thread on this blog ;).

RAW has it’s go home show tonight for Summerslam so expect more words from Lashley and Goldberg in a match that no one really wants to see. I do, however, want to check out Lashley’s interview with Austin on the Network so I might watch a little of that before 8.

AEW High Elevation is streaming.

I had to fly back from the Midwest today and listened to the “Crime in Sports” podcast episode on New Jack, it’s old but it was pretty damn entertaining. I listened to Cornette’s podcast on Beautiful Bobby on the way to Chicago and…the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes are hard because Cornette was obviously so torn up. But the 90 or so minutes of stories is really good and some are quite funny.

Beautiful Bobby Eaton will always be one of those talents that was never in a spot to be truly appreciated for how good he was. He’s one of those “your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler” types. But as someone who watched him in Mid South, World Class and Crockett, he always looked too decent of a person to be a heel and in life he was. I loved the simplicity of his face turn in 1988 when the Midnights are chasing Arn and Tully and the Horsemen are busting on him during an episode of World Wide when Eaton finally snaps and talks back, mostly calling Tully a piece of trash over and over again. He was never much of a promo, but that was a fun mark-out moment. So again, RIP to an entertaining performer and by all accounts a good man that was loved and respected by his peers. Matter of fact. I’m going to link that podcast here.

Also a late RIP to the Assassin Jody Hamilton, who COULD cut a promo and scare the daylights out of a young fan.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

I went to my first live WWE event in a while Friday for Smackdown in Tampa. Good times. Cena didn’t show up on the televised portion but wrestled in the go home dark match with the Mysterios against the Bloodline. He did his normal move set and looked like he was getting his timing back. Keith Lee and Austin Theory had a dark match and Dakota Kai and Aliyah had a dark match, which makes me wonder if Dakota will be moving up.

As for the televised stuff unfortunately I was on the opposite side of the hard camera so my awesome custom “Right Hand Woman” didn’t get any airtime, although Jimmy Uso pointed it out and got Jey’s attention to look at it.

Roman was the merch mover. Lots of “Head of the Table” and “Acknowledge me” shirts being worn and purchased.

Fans responded really well to Sasha Banks and she has a way with the crowd. Definitely carries herself like a top-level star. I was worried Bianca wouldn’t get a good reaction, but she did and she did a good job of getting the crowd into her match. My son was quite upset that Toni Storm wasn’t on the match list, but he seemed pretty smitten with Tegan Nox. And she is pretty adorable in person. The two hours pretty much flew by and the crowd was fun.

As for tonight, AEW Elevators in the Dark is streaming. RAW is live. I guess tonight is the night Randy Orton returns. No more Olympics (BOO!) so it’s baseball and more baseball to get you through until the full slate of NFL preseason games begin.

I hope all is well and everyone is having a great Monday. Now you just have to take your RAW medicine and hope is doesn’t taste like castor oil.

Couple of big news pieces from the weekends are releases. Bray Wyatt’s release didn’t really shock me. I loved the Wyatt Family gimmick and I loved his ability to talk in that gimmick. I never got into the Fiend. It was silly stuff to me and it took away his greatest strength, which was talking. Without that he was an ‘eh’ worker that looked ridiculous. The Wyatt Family should’ve evolved more than it did. I wonder how Bray would’ve faired with opponents that could’ve put over the act a little better — like Foley or Undertaker during his full-time days. Particularly Foley. I think they would’ve been great as allies or adversaries.

And than Ric Flair was released today. I assume he was released from a Legend’s contract and I have no idea where he goes and what he has to offer besides bleeding a lot. I hope he’s not going to be in AEW blading week in and week out. It’s not anything I would want to see. Hopefully the guy steps back for a second and just wants to rest and enjoy the rest of his light outside the limelight. Meanwhile I’ll just continue to watch Mid-Atlantic and WCCW from the earlier 80s and watch the guy having mat classics with Harley Race and the Von Erich boys.

Randy Orton is returning to RAW tonight. It’s in Chicago which means we’ll get a great crowd.

More Olympics tonight. I think the 400M hurdles are the big live finals and I’ll be all over that. We got some baseball too.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

We’re back with a live RAW tonight in front of real fans. Last week was…not good…but the ratings were a major improvement so why change now?

Jeff Hardy may or may not have COVID-19 so he might not be present tonight, which is perfect timing after any future Karrion Kross may have had was destroyed. I think Kross is about as mediocre as it gets and even I would’ve heated him up a little before letting him die a slow death. And of course pairing him with one of the most unreliable acts in the business was the cherry on top of a great idea. Maybe he can lose by a bearhug to Humberto this week?

But I’m here for the Nikki A.S.H. era. At least the response on the Twitters was great as Nikki is very well loved within the community. Good for her. I hope they sell a million masks and she gets a big fat merch check out of it.

AEW Elevators to the top is streaming. There’s a lot of baseball on.

Olympics are on too. Hopefully a lot of swimming because I love the swimming events and maybe some handball or surfing or show pony jumping or any of the other 1,200 events that aren’t the track sprints the people want to see.

God help me, this Baron Corbin stuff is actually good. Smackdown is truly the light that shines in all of us.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. And before you ask. NO this woman was not me.

That isn’t to say that I wouldn’t have done something like that and could very possibly do that in the future. But that was another woman rightfully acknowledging Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief and Head of the Table.

Moving on.

The WWE seemed energized with the return of fans this weekend. Smackdown was fun and drew pretty strong numbers. Money in the Bank was one of their best PPVs, if not their best, in the 2020s. Scott’s review is here and Thomas’ is here. Please support both men.

They will try to stick the landing tonight with RAW. Cena will be in the house and we’ll see what else they have in store — probably a couple rematches, but maybe a few surprises and returns. AEW Elevation is streaming tonight I think and there is a bunch of baseball on.

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

The day started out well enough as I enjoyed the boat parade for the 2021 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. But I came home to hear the sad news that the most feared bad guy around when I started watching WWF, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff had passed away at the age of 71. We recently got news that his health was failing and it’s always tough to see the people that were part of my fandom as a child leaving us. The heel team in the first Wrestlemania are no longer with us.

Even though Piper was the more bombastic and charismatic of the team, Orndorff was the guy you thought could actually beat Hogan. That’s probably why they drew so much money in 1986. Orndorff had the look, he had the credibility and his piledriver was considered the ultimate bad guy finisher. But looking back, Orndorff cracked me the hell up. He was both a narcissist and desperately in need of someone to build his confidence. He was great in some of the skits he did. The pre-Wrestlemania one where he and Piper go to a voodoo woman and he’s just not wearing a shirt in the whole thing. I couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous it was.

I think this RAW is taped, so I’m not sure what they will put together for Orndorff, but I expect them to do something. The matches are scheduled to be: Bobby Lashley vs. Xavier Woods, Sheamus vs. Humberto and a few others.

WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL!

Tough news for the Role Model. no word of the actual injury, but at nine months it’s easy to assume it’s a leg/knee or maybe an upper body muscle tear. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, a long weekend if you were celebrating Canada Day or Independence Day.

RAW is on again tonight as they start to prepare for a return to fans. It just can’t come soon enough. Two weeks before Money in the Bank so expect more push to that. And of course AEW Darkness in an Elevator is streaming.

Tonight the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team I have had season tickets with for nearly a decade, will get their first of four chances to win a second straight Stanley Cup. I’m not one of those clown ass fans who wants them to lose so they can try to win in Tampa on Wednesday. To hell with that. Kick Montreal’s ass tonight and end this! That being said I have tons of respect for the Canadiens. Hard not to be in awe of the history of that franchise.

And there’s baseball on too.

With the daily thread getting near 5,000 posts and someone probably being a little sensitive that the Canadiens got their asses stomped last night, the evening thread was ignored.

I. Can’t. Even.

To be honest, he looks better without all the lighting and the make-up that the WWE puts on him to make him look like a vampire. And you can tell he’s still pretty jacked for a guy in his mid-70s. And you wonder if he was enjoying some of the amenities that Donnell Rawlings, Dave Chappelle and his friends partake in. That would give “that’s good shit pal” a new meaning.

I had a choice between RAW or going to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals so you can guess where I am. AEW Express Elevator is streaming. Of course the amazing Tampa Bay Lightning are starting beginning their quest for a third Stanley Cup against the Montreal Canadiens, who are beginning their quest for 24th. Game 1 of the College World Series between Vanderbilt and Mississippi State is tonight as well. The Phoenix Suns will attempt to clinch the Western Conference title against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 5. So there are a ton of sports on tonight.
