I hope everyone had a great weekend. And before you ask. NO this woman was not me.

That isn’t to say that I wouldn’t have done something like that and could very possibly do that in the future. But that was another woman rightfully acknowledging Roman Reigns as the Tribal Chief and Head of the Table.

Moving on.

The WWE seemed energized with the return of fans this weekend. Smackdown was fun and drew pretty strong numbers. Money in the Bank was one of their best PPVs, if not their best, in the 2020s. Scott’s review is here and Thomas’ is here. Please support both men.

They will try to stick the landing tonight with RAW. Cena will be in the house and we’ll see what else they have in store — probably a couple rematches, but maybe a few surprises and returns. AEW Elevation is streaming tonight I think and there is a bunch of baseball on.

The day started out well enough as I enjoyed the boat parade for the 2021 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. But I came home to hear the sad news that the most feared bad guy around when I started watching WWF, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff had passed away at the age of 71. We recently got news that his health was failing and it’s always tough to see the people that were part of my fandom as a child leaving us. The heel team in the first Wrestlemania are no longer with us.

Even though Piper was the more bombastic and charismatic of the team, Orndorff was the guy you thought could actually beat Hogan. That’s probably why they drew so much money in 1986. Orndorff had the look, he had the credibility and his piledriver was considered the ultimate bad guy finisher. But looking back, Orndorff cracked me the hell up. He was both a narcissist and desperately in need of someone to build his confidence. He was great in some of the skits he did. The pre-Wrestlemania one where he and Piper go to a voodoo woman and he’s just not wearing a shirt in the whole thing. I couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous it was.

I think this RAW is taped, so I’m not sure what they will put together for Orndorff, but I expect them to do something. The matches are scheduled to be: Bobby Lashley vs. Xavier Woods, Sheamus vs. Humberto and a few others.

Ding Dong…Oh No!

Tough news for the Role Model. no word of the actual injury, but at nine months it’s easy to assume it’s a leg/knee or maybe an upper body muscle tear. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery.

I hope everyone had a great weekend, a long weekend if you were celebrating Canada Day or Independence Day.

RAW is on again tonight as they start to prepare for a return to fans. It just can’t come soon enough. Two weeks before Money in the Bank so expect more push to that. And of course AEW Darkness in an Elevator is streaming.

Tonight the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team I have had season tickets with for nearly a decade, will get their first of four chances to win a second straight Stanley Cup. I’m not one of those clown ass fans who wants them to lose so they can try to win in Tampa on Wednesday. To hell with that. Kick Montreal’s ass tonight and end this! That being said I have tons of respect for the Canadiens. Hard not to be in awe of the history of that franchise.

And there’s baseball on too.

Tuesday Evening Thread

With the daily thread getting near 5,000 posts and someone probably being a little sensitive that the Canadiens got their asses stomped last night, the evening thread was ignored.

Well here it is. Talk about the final 20 minutes of NXT or the second half of the basketball game. Or the College World Series or whatever.

I. Can’t. Even.

To be honest, he looks better without all the lighting and the make-up that the WWE puts on him to make him look like a vampire. And you can tell he’s still pretty jacked for a guy in his mid-70s. And you wonder if he was enjoying some of the amenities that Donnell Rawlings, Dave Chappelle and his friends partake in. That would give “that’s good shit pal” a new meaning.

I had a choice between RAW or going to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals so you can guess where I am. AEW Express Elevator is streaming. Of course the amazing Tampa Bay Lightning are starting beginning their quest for a third Stanley Cup against the Montreal Canadiens, who are beginning their quest for 24th. Game 1 of the College World Series between Vanderbilt and Mississippi State is tonight as well. The Phoenix Suns will attempt to clinch the Western Conference title against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 5. So there are a ton of sports on tonight.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I loved spending Father’s Day with my husband, son and my father-in-law. It’s always nice to celebrate the men in my life.

Both Scott and Thomas have their reviews of Hell in the Cell up. I generally agree although I think Scott shortchanged the Bailey-Bianca match a bit. Overall I’m ready for the Hell in the Cell to take a hiatus. It’s had a nice run. But it was a show where everyone worked hard despite the throwaway nature of the card.

RAW has Money in the Bank qualifiers tonight. Damn we’re still doing that PPV. AEW has Elevators in the Dark streaming now.

NHL Playoff game tonight features the mighty Tampa Bay Lightning against the Long Islanders. No NBA playoffs tonight.

Here’s the first true hoss fight

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Thomas and Scott have reviews up for last night’s In Your House: Takeover. It was a decent show if not special. I thought maybe Scott could’ve bumped up the Mercedes Martinez/Xia Li match because it was a good, hard-hitting affair.

It’s the go home RAW for Hell in the Cell PPV, which hasn’t really gotten a lot of traction. AEW has one of its streaming shows on.

Hawks-76ers and Jazz-LAC are the NBA games tonight. Vegas-Montreal is the NHL game. I think I’ll watch the DSoTR on the Dynamite Kid again for the upcoming review.

I caught the WWE Treasure Hunt show on Andre the Giant and once you get past some of the silly kayfabe stuff, like Sonny Onoo tricking the guys into trying to win an auction for Andre’s Giant Machine mask, there were some great photos, videos and stories about Andre from people that knew him outside the ring. Plus Mark Henry cries a lot and it’s pretty endearing. Even Stephanie looked like she got a little emotional when she was flipping through one of his old passports. It’s an enjoyable watch as long as you aren’t going into it looking to be offended by the stuff that’s a little storyline-ish.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. It’s getting hot out there.

AEW Dark Wrestling in an Elevator is streaming right now or done streaming or something. RAW is live tonight and will likely continue to be a hot mess until fans return next month. There is a tag team battle royal. Sounds good.

Bucks-Nets and Suns-Nuggets in NBA Playoffs

Habs-Jets and Isles-Bruins in NHL Playoffs

Enjoy your week.

Wednesday Evening Thread…

This is the last night thread I’ll be doing this week so whoever’s responsible for these needs to get it together.

AEW Dynamite is apparently moved to Friday or Saturday this week. I’m surprised that “Ultra Dark Light” isn’t streaming right now or something.

The big news today is that releasing Braun Strowman and Buddy Murphy meant the WWE was for sale. I could see that. Getting rid of Buddy Murphy is truly a raise of the white flag.

Discuss this, the NBA and NHL playoffs and more on the night thread.

Tuesday Night Scramble Thread…

Well it’s a Tuesday. You know what that means.

NXT is on. There is a No. 1 contender’s match between Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly will be the opener and MSK defends their tag titles against Legamo del Fantasma. NXT is fine with the broadcasts, but they need a good blood angle and none exist right now.

AEW Dark is streaming too.

I am watching Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Second Round series between the heroic Tampa Bay Lightning and the less impressive Carolina Hurricanes.

NBA Playoffs are on as well. The Lakers play tonight and the Celtics try to stay alive against the Nets.

I hope everyone had a fine weekend. Some are still enjoying the final minutes of the weekend.

Double or Nothing was last night and we have three different reviews for you to look at. It was a highly-regarded show. Mark Henry was the big surprise announcement as he’s likely going to get slotted into a show as a broadcast guy with an expanded role. AEW Dark Elevation is streaming now.

RAW is tonight. Only thing I have heard about it is Drew vs. Kofi for the No. 1 contender spot, Xavier Woods vs. Randy Orton and AJ Styles/Omos vs. Elias/Ryker tag title match.

NHL Playoffs: Maple Leafs-Habs in a Game 7. Isles-Bruins in a Game 2

In the NBA the Wizards try to stay alive against the 76ers and the fun Jazz-Grizzlies series will follow.

This match was mentioned in a recent thread so here you go.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I am watching NHL Playoffs of course as defending Stanley Cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, try to close out the evil Florida Panthers. A full slate of NHL and NBA playoff games are on tonight, which should take a chunk out of the RAW rating.

The former Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark, spoke in detail about the allegations against him and his release. The court of public opinion has spoken, but his side of the story may change some minds or it might not.

Dana Warrior NOT happy about the upcoming Dark Side of the Ring on The Ultimate Warrior. What did YOU think of the A&E Biography from last night?

Tuesday Night Fights Thread

Someone is asleep at the wheel.

NXT is on currently. And it’s a Toni Storm match so…you’re welcome. Is AEW Dark tonight? I think so.

Lots of NHL is on (GO LIGHTNING!) and the start of the NBA playoffs begins with the Eastern Conference Play-in games.

Have a great evening.

Happy Tax Day if you are here in the United States. I hope everyone has had a good day and if you haven’t filed already, make sure to file those taxes before midnight. Don’t be a tax cheat or Mike Rotunda will come by your house and chastise you.

Both Scott’s and Thomas’ reviews of Wrestlemania Backlash are up. I thought the heavyweight title matches were both excellent and the two women’s matches along with the tag match anywhere from inoffensive-to-decent. Of course the zombie junk will get more attention than what was warranted, but that’s life.

RAW will have the fallout from last night.

Three NHL playoff games tonight and a full slate of MLB. NBA is off until tomorrow.

Something for you to ponder: What was a five-star match (or close to it) that you had no real expectations for and it shocked the hell out of you? For me its the Ambrose/Rollins vs. Drew/Ziggler match at 2018 Hell in a Cell. Sure I figured it was going to be a decent by-the-numbers match but not a five-star classic. Answers appreciated.

And for your match of the week.

The Princess Rant on Dark Side of the Ring (Season 3, Episode 1&2)

This double-episode is simply titled: “Brian Pillman”

My first thoughts of Brian Pillman were just that he could go. He was exciting and unique. He was generally promoted as a cruiserweight and he was a guy that performed above the canvas, but he also physically looked good and had enough credibility to have great matches against bigger guys like Lex Luger. Those matches against the Lugers and Tom Zenks of the world were terrific and they often get overlooked because the matches against Jushin “Thunder” Liger were so amazing. Pillman was a guy that I felt like could have a good match with anyone. He was a good promo, believable as a face or a heel.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I appreciate Andy PG with the early Mother’s Day shoutout on Friday and I thank you all for the nice comments yesterday. Much love to all of you who were able to celebrate with your moms and wives or celebrate the memories of your moms.

Back to the sports entertainment tonight. Lots of multi-man tag matches on RAW along with buildup to Wrestlemania Backlash.

AEW Less Dark Elevation is streaming.

It’s the regular-season finally for many NHL teams tonight, unless you’re in the Canada Division where Vancouver has to make up a week’s worth of games.

RAW is going to try to do better this week. A couple of tag title matches are on the docket and a bunch of other stuff. Hopefully not an overload of Strowman again.

A full NHL, NBA and MLB schedule will give you plenty of opportunities to talk real sports.

AEW Dark is also streaming.
