Friday Night Get-Down: November 5, 2021

No World Series… no NFL… and Scott Keith thankfully hasn’t texted me about my future endeavors yet… must be a FRIDAY!

Perhaps the most interesting subplot of the “we have too many people on payroll” sweepstakes is Nia Jax’s claim that she asked for a mental health break and got fired instead.  This is combined with the New York Post — the closest thing we have to journalism caring about this — saying she was fired explicitly for not being vaccinated, which is a statement that undoubtedly got the Green Bay Packers’ attention.  It’s possible both are true, but man, you think they’d talk to people they were letting go to explain why.

I’ve been told the six-man between Alexander/Cardona/Edwards and Moose/Suzuki/Morrissey on Impact was very good.  I will have to look for it.

It was a total thrill seeing two DC talents main event Beyond’s Uncharted Territory last night.  Congratulations to Trish Adora and Jordan Blade on their achievement.  Now if only we could get a good wrestling promotion in the DC area… well, that’s not fair; F1ght Club Pro is very good, but it’s also a specialty promotion (they insist on an all-black roster).  I was hoping for a company I could work for.

Good luck to our British friends who are currently setting effigies of Vince McMahon on fire.

And now, your Moment of Zen as Jim Cornette discusses the history of one of our favorite wrestling tropes.

All right, folks, we’ve been over the rules.  I expect you to obey the mods’ instructions at all times.  I expect a good clean thread.  Now — touch gloves, go to your keyboards, and come out posting!
