Top Guys

Hey Scott-
CM Punk has proven himself to still be a top guy in the industry with his amazing appearance on Rampage last night (They dedicated the first segment of the show to his pop alone!). In recent months WWE has let go of an astonishing amount of top guys/potential top guys: Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Bray Wyatt, Braun Stroman, Alistair Black, maybe Adam Cole – It feels like they've lost an entire generation's worth of upper card talent. When was the last time something like this happened? When WWF strip mined the AWA?
No, I think it’s closer to the 95-97 period where Vince “lost” Hogan, Savage, Nash, Hall and Bret in that one period. Luckily for him he had Austin and Rock to replace them. This time…not so much.
