CM Punk being a talking point for one day

On Friday CM Punk made his return to the wrestling world for the first time in either a year, or in 8 years. Depending on how you count his role on WWE Backstage. On Friday night & Saturday Morning he was the biggest talking point in wrestling.
The following night, Becky Lynch returned in front of 60 thousand screaming fans as a huge surprise and is immediately positioned as the biggest female star in the world.
Do you think Punk and/or AEW should have had Punk's return happen at a different time? Having him cut a “the chains are off/WWE didn't use me right” type promo the day before Summerslam, it was always a risk he'd be overshadowed just the following day.
