Monday Night Open Mic

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

Wrestlemania 37 is now behind us and it was so nice to see the fans and feel that interaction. I did not attend and for the most part I don’t regret that decision, especially with the all the bad weather, but hearing that crowd for Drew McIntyre’s entrance was the one point during both nights when I kind of wanted to be there. I was happy for the wrestlers and the fans. I know a ton of people that did go and all seemed to have a lot of fun.

The best moments for me were the opening match Saturday, a really good power battle. The Bad Bunny/Miz tag match was super fun. The Saturday main event was wonderful and the hair whip shot that Bianca gave Sasha might be that all-time WM moment that the WWE is constantly trying to create. I still can’t get over how committed Sasha is to the business to let a legitimate top-end athlete basically hit her in the gut with something the equivalent of a bullwhip. That’s how bad she wanted to deliver in a main event match.

The highlight Sunday was the main event. Great match and great finish with Roman Reigns looking very dominant with a decisive win. Hard to say who the WWE will tab to beat him, but he looks like the type of monster heel that will have a long title run with a huge build to his eventual fall.

Now back to business. RAW is live tonight at the new Thunderdome on the campus of the University of South Florida. I wish they would have done another house with fans, but I understand. New RAW announce team tonight with a team of former ESPN guy Adnan Virk, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves. Virk, as some of you will remember, was fired from ESPN for leaking details of meetings to media members. So that’s interesting. I will say that Graves really impressed me with his call of Saturday’s Main Event. Most of the talk has been about Cole blowing the call on the pin, but Graves was really on his game in that match.

We have AEW Elevation streaming. Speaking of AEW, Chris Jericho does a two-hour broken skull session with Steve Austin and it’s not a bad watch at all. I appreciate Jericho a little more after watching the episode.
