Couple of Roman Qustions

If the plan was for Roman to come back as a heel all along why have the fiend beat stroman for the belt in the first place? Wouldn’t it make more sense for Roman to steamroll weak face braun to start his run?
Does this mean that the wwe wants us to root for braun stroman as the only face in the match? Does it even matter anymore? I just watched an nxt 6 way ladder match where every person in it was a heel. Am I just not supposed to care about that anymore because shades of grey pal?
Apparently the Fiend is supposed to come out of this whole thing as the top babyface, so I'm guessing he gets screwed and they set up a Roman-Fiend singles match for later, which is where they wanted to go in the first place.
