Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Ted DiBiase vs. 1-2-3 Kid
When this match was announced last week it really did give away the finish of the Tournament semifinals. This match was taped at the 12/13 “Wrestling Challenge” tapings in Liberty, NY. Kid lands several kicks to start but gets dropped with a headbutt. Bigelow then tosses Kid across the ring but misses an avalanche as Kid lands several more kicks in the corner. Kid uses a rollup for a nearfall but Bigelow gets up and hammers away. We see Dibiase laughing as Bigelow takes his time and that allows Kid to fight back. Bigelow gets dropkicked against the ropes but comes back with a clothesline. Bigelow misses a charge and goes up and over in the corner. Kid dropkicks him off of the apron then takes him down with a baseball slide as we go to break. The match returns with Kid firing away in the corner. Kid tries a slam for some reason then Bigelow throws him over the top rope. DiBiase taunts Kid then Bigelow brings Kid back into the ring from the apron with a press slam. Bigelow covers for a nearfall after taking his time but Kid refuses to quit. Bigelow knocks Kid down and sends him through the ropes with a headbutt. Bigelow drags Kid back into the ring and tosses him around before applying a chin lock. Kid escapes and tries a spin kick but Bigelow dodges that and drops Kid with an enziguiri in an impressive spot. Bigelow suplexes Kid then yells at him to get up. Bigelow now puts him a rack submission but Kid is able to flip out of the hold. Kid tries a back suplex but Bigelow falls on top. Bigelow then heads up for a moonsault but Kid yanks him off and gets a two count. The crowd goes nuts as Kid climbs up top but Bigelow catches him and hits a front falling slam for the win (10:16) ***3/4. After the match, DiBiase gives Bigelow his bonus for winning then stuffs a $100 bill in Kid’s mouth.
Thoughts: A fast-paced match with Kid doing an incredible job as the feisty underdog, which plays in the story heading into the Tag Team Tournament Finals. The crowd was invested and Bigelow more than held up his end here too. Its one of the best Bigelow matches ever, right up there with his matches against Bret in 1993. A hidden gem for sure and certainly worth checking out as Kid really was on top of his game.

Final Thoughts: Bigelow/Kid was awesome and as heard on the Rumble Report from the syndicated shows, next week’s Action Zone will feature the Rumble match drawing. And we get Holly vs. Tatanka to see if Holly can get a win for his team and some momentum heading into the tag finals. Definitely try to seek out Bigelow vs. Kid if you can.
