WWF Wrestling Challenge – June 26th, 1994

June 26, 1994

From the Canton Memorial Civic Center in Canton, OH

Your hosts are Stan Lane and Ted DiBiase, who are in the aisle at the beginning of the show.

In action this week are Mabel, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Razor Ramon. Plus, a special interview with Alundra Blayze.

Razor Ramon vs. Matt Hardy

Razor tosses his toothpick at DiBiase on the way to the ring. Razor works over Hardy to start as the announcers talk about the happenings from the King of the Ring. Hardy lands a few chops but Razor hits him harder then follows with a clothesline in the corner. Razor hits a fallaway slam as the announcers now talk about Lawler vs. Piper from King of the Ring. Razor stretches out Matt then slaps him around before stretching him out again. Razor stays in control as the announcers plug the King of the Ring encore PPV airing then hits a super back suplex before the Razor Edge gets the win (4:16).

Thoughts: Long squash match used as a background to mainly talk about what happened at the PPV.

King of the Ring Report with Todd Pettengill.

The announcers plug the newest edition of “Wrestling Spotlight” with Bret Hart on the cover. The magazine is all about Bret as well.

Virgil vs. Reno Riggins

DiBiase says that Virgil vs. Nikolai Volkoff will take place on the Summer Sizzler tour. Virgil gets two with a crossbody after a reversal sequence as DiBiase puts over Owen Hart winning King of the Ring and how Jim Neidhart carried Bret in their tag team. Virgil gets a few other nearfalls then chops away in the corner. Virgil rams his shoulder into the post after missing a charge as Riggins works the arm and yells about being on a roll. Riggins hits a standing dropkick then taunts the crowd as the announcers hype some of the house shows then Virgil surprises Riggins with a crucifix for the win (2:36).

Thoughts: Virgil is feuding with Volkoff and that is being pushed for the house shows but the main focus was on Jim Neidhart returning to the WWF.

WWF Live Event News segment on the Marathon Tour.

Well Dunn w/ Harvey Whippleman vs. Marty Garner & Kenny Hendrix

The announcers talk about The Headshrinkers retaining the Tag Team Titles over Yokozuna & Crush at King of the Ring. Well Dunn beat on Garner to start as Lane said he heard DiBiase is the “Donald Trump of the WWF” but DiBiase says he has more money. Lane then said Trump was wealthy one day then broke the next as DiBiase laughs at the thought of himself being broke. Hendrix is in now and Well Dunn quickly put him away with a double DDT (3:49).

Thoughts: Lots of Trump/DiBiase comparisons on commentary here as the announcers focused more about that rather than the match involving a bottom of the card tag team.

Doink the Clown w/ Dink vs. Tracy Caddell

Cadell is the co-founder of the East Coast Wrestling Federation, which later became OMEGA, and father of current NXT star Cameron Grimes (Trevor Lee). Sadly, he passed away in July 2018. Dink hits Caddell with a broom. Caddell works the arm of Doink briefly until Doink hits a back suplex. Doink grabs a chin lock then starts working the leg as Lane says Blayze will be here soon. Doink stays to work on the leg as the announcers talk about the Blayze/Luna Vachon feud. Dink says something into the camera as Doink stays on the mat then uses the Stump Puller for the win (3:09).

Thoughts: They lightly touched upon the Doink/Jarrett feud while hyping Blayze’s interview and the Blayze/Luna feud.

Lord Alfred Hayes voices over an ad for the King of the Ring PPV encore airing.

Raymond Rougeau welcomes Alundra Blayze to the interview platform. He asks her about taking on all challengers. Blayze says she is proud to be the Women’s Champion and if they are in Japan, Italy, or England she wants to take them on and have them find out why she is the champion. Blayze is now pushed as a fighting champion set to take on women from all over the world. They did not mention her current feud with Luna, however.

Adam Bomb vs. Emilio Ulcia

DiBiase tells us how he is starting his own corporation and possibly looking to add Bomb. Lane talks about Piper being ribbed and notes his abs as Bomb overpowers Ulcia with ease. Bomb then hits a standing dropkick then clotheslines Ulcia over the top rope as a group of teens loudly cheer. Bomb then rolls Ulcia back inside and puts him away with a slingshot clothesline (2:45). After the match, Bomb dumps Ulcia outside.

Thoughts: They played up how Bomb would fare on his own without Whippleman. Also, DiBiase told us about how he was looking to add to his corporation and that theme would continue for the rest of the show.

Another King of the Ring Report.

Mabel w/ Oscar vs. Curtis Harrison

The announcers talk about how Yokozuna is the only guy in the WWF bigger than Mabel. DiBiase also puts over Mabel but adds he needs to get away from Oscar to reach his potential. They then talk about how great Mabel has done as a singles wrestler as Mabel grounds Harrison. Mabel stays in control then puts Harrison away with a sidewalk slam for the win (2:15).

Thoughts: There were hints of DiBiase possibly going after Mabel as part of his new corporation as Mabel as a singles wrestler seems to be the plan for the immediate future.

The announcers hype the “WrestleFest94” release from Coliseum Home Video, which is available this Wednesday.

Bam Bam Bigelow w/ Luna Vachon vs. Ryan Scott

DiBiase talks about adding Bigelow to his stable. Bigelow overpowers Scott as DiBiase talks up Bigelow being a King of the Ring runner-up last season. Bigelow dumps Scott as DiBiase says he would also get Luna as part of his stable to defeat Blayze for the Women’s Champion. DiBiase now says The Undertaker will be here in action next week as Bigelow continues to beat on Scott until he puts him away with a flying headbutt (2:12).

Thoughts: And DiBiase also hints at getting both Bigelow & Luna in a package deal while saying his Undertaker will be here next week.

WWF Live Event news segment also about the Marathon tour.

Next week in action are Lex Luger, Typhoon, Tatanka, Owen Hart, and The Undertaker. Plus, an interview with Diesel and more!

Final Thoughts: Mostly just basic King of the Ring fallout here. DiBiase saying he was planning to make a corporation then talking about possibly adding a few talents on this show was something and with him saying last week on RAW he was going to offer Lex Luger a spot in his group except at least someone else to be added to his now growing stable.
