Pump the Brakes

By Scott Keith on 27 June 2019

Hey Scott–

1995: Vince McMahon, facing an upstart wrestling promotion that promises to try some fresh ideas with a national television show, shocks his roster by bringing Bill Watts into the company as the creative executive. Vowing to give Watts complete creative control, Vince is unable to keep his hands off the the creative direction of the company, leading to Watts resigning in less than a month.

2019: Vince McMahon, facing an upstart wrestling promotion that promises to try some fresh ideas with a national television show, shocks his roster by bringing Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff into the company as the creative executives. Vowing to… you know…

In other words, I'll believe it when I f*&%ing see it.

At least this time no one died while you were at the dentist. So there's that...
People die when I leave town, not when I'm at medical appointments. And it's a long weekend here in Canada. So, you never know.
At any rate, we got more PPV numbers for Stomping Grounds, and it was the lowest buyrate in WWE history, at 9800 buys. That's TNA numbers, and it's no wonder Vince finally snapped and decided to overhaul his shows. And attendance is trending downwards, not even flat, so the worst is yet to come unless Uncles Eric and Paul can turn the ship around by AEW time. I'd have settled for getting the title off Seth Rollins and sending Corbin back to NXT, but this will have to do for now.
