AJ Styles in WWE

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what’s up with AJ? His WWE run hasn’t been bad, but it has been a bit of a let down when it comes to match quality. He’s had some great matches (with Cena for example), but overall his run has been a bit of a let down for me. In particular I was hoping for classics with Nakamura and Bryan. They were still enjoyable, but not great.

Is it just a matter of him slowing down or getting older? Injuries? Unmotivated? Or just a case where expectations were so high no one could live up to them?

All that said, AJ at half speed is still one of the best guys on the roster, and he looks damn good with the WWE title around his waist when he’s got it.

Age and injuries. He’s cashing in years of goodwill that he built up, and good on him.
