From the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA
Your hosts are Jim Ross and Bobby Heenan
In action are Ludvig Borga, Smoking Gunns, and Bastion Booger
Tatanka vs. Chris Duffy
Tatanka chops Duffy outside as the announcers talk about WWF President Jack Tunney being guest later on during the “King’s Court.” Tatanka continues to beat on Duffy as the announcers talk about subjects such as Radio WWF and Tatanka’s undefeated streak. Tatanka catches Duffy with a powerslam but Duffy comes back with an eye rake then a knee to the gut. Tatanka fires up then finally ends this with a Samoan Drop (4:01).
Thoughts: Long squash match (theme of the night) as Tatanka has really had nothing to do since his feud against Bam Bam was dropped.
Another “WWF Unbelievable” ad with some guy in a body cast.
Headshrinkers w/ Afa vs. Mike Davis & Tony Roy
The Headshrinkers beat down Roy as the announcers talk about an upcoming Headshrinkers vs. Smoking Gunns match that will have championship implications. Davis is in now and Samu hits him with a backbreaker as Roy is out on the apron. The Headshrinkers destroy Davis with an assisted hot shot before tossing him outside then Fatu puts him away with a top rope splash (4:43).
Thoughts: They’re pushing the Headshrinkers as possible title contenders. They looked really good again in a TV squash match.
Marty Jannetty vs. The Executioner
The Executioner is Duane Gill under a mask. He beats on Marty at first but Marty fights back and sends him outside with a dropkick. Marty flies out with a tope then brings Executioner back inside and works a side headlock. Marty holds on when tossed outside and comes back in to send Executioner through the ropes with a dropkick. Marty then hits Executioner with a gordbuster on the outside as the fans chant his name. Marty stays in control and soon after that uses a flying fist drop for the win (4:09).
Thoughts: Good stuff from Marty, whose being pushed as a high-flyer. I mean, its not much of a push but that’s the role he is now given.
Plug of the George Steinbrenner article in the newest edition of “WWF Magazine.”
Ludvig Borga vs. Rich Myers
Borga starts destroying Myers during the introductions. Ross puts over Borga’s boxing and power lifting career in Europe as we get some USA chants from the crowd. Borga slams Myers and follows with an elbow drop before using the torture rack for the win (2:30).
Thoughts: They trying everything they can to build up Borga as a threat to Luger but no one is buying Borga, who just simply lacks the talent needed to be in a top feud.
Smoking Gunns vs. Brooklyn Brawler & Fred Williams
The Gunns work over Brawler to start. Williams tags in and the Gunns hit him with a double side Russian leg sweep. Williams comes back with a clothesline on Billy but whiffs on a splash as Billy regains control. The Gunns work over Williams as Ross tries to put over the house shows as having great cards then Bart puts Williams away with a top rope sunset flip (3:59).
Thoughts: The Gunns are another act just spinning their wheels. They are not pushed or involved in a feud. They’re just an average team with a crappy gimmick.
Announcers plug the newest edition of “WWF Spotlight” Magazine. It features both Hulk Hogan & Jimmy Hart on the cover but Ross made it a point to only mention Hart’s name.
King’s Court with guest WWF President Jack Tunney. Lawler rags on the crowd for being too stupid to appreciate his talent and ability then demands they kiss his feet. Lawler asks Tunney about Doink the Clown making a fool out of himself and wants Tunney to tell Doink to stay away because if not he’ll slap the paint off of his face. Tunney then calls out Lawler’s scam at SummerSlam and will not hold Bret Hart responsible for what he does to Lawler. After telling the crowd to shut up, Lawler warns Bret he will prove how he is the undisputed King of the WWF. Lawler is great and they are building to something with him between Doink while keeping his feud with Bret hot.
Bastion Booger vs. Mike Khoury
Booger beats on Khoury as the announcers talk about him being grotesque. Booger then hits a leg drop and after that tosses Khoury outside and avalanches him against the post. Booger then rolls Khoury inside then dances over him before hitting a sit-down splash for the win (2:04).
Thoughts: Poor Khoury split the back of his head open against the post as the announcers kept hammering home how Booger is a disgusting individual.
Next week in action are IRS, Ludvig Borga, and The Undertaker. Plus, Doink the Clown as guest on the “King’s Court” and more .
Final Thoughts: Lots of long squash matches this week. The only thing exclusive was the King’s Court, which was good, and we get to see it again with Doink for next week as the SummerSlam fallout remains cold for the most part.
