Kofimania not running wild

Was there any sort of plan for Daniel Bryan and the WWE title at Mania and beyond if Kofimania didn't end up running wild. The field with KO getting an actually one on one match? Bryan retaining? Just wondering as I saw him go from one of the main Mania matches, to currently on my screen defending the tag titles on the preshow.
Yeah, original Mania plan was Bryan defending against Family Man Kevin Owens and retaining, far as I've heard.
