WWE not caring about house shows?

By Scott Keith on 26 April 2019

Why did the WWE seemingly stop caring about house shows? I heard someone claim the other day that it has been due to the rise of the WWE Network-new business model over 5 years ago, but it seems to me they haven't been caring about house show attendance since the end of the Monday Night Wars. I used to remember them advertising on their programs a calendar showing where and when they were going next, touting if a show was sold out, etc. Now the only time I see them advertising on Raw or Smackdown where they are touring next is local only ads.
It's because house show revenue is a drop in the bucket next to TV revenue at this point. It costs a lot of money to run shows and they're not making a significant profit, so it's understandable.
