Beating a match concept to death?

With the recent overuse of the gauntlet match in the WWE in the last several months, do you ever remember a company overusing a match concept to the point that you never wanted to see it again/see it for a long time? I can remember when Eric Bischoff was Raw G.M. they seemingly had at least 1 handicapped match seemingly every week.

There was definitely a point where they beat Hell in the Cell into the ground a few years back and I don’t think it ever recovered.
