Andre/Hogan question

Your Prime Time review today made me think of this one. I had heard that on that legendary Piper's Pit, Andre was only supposed to rip Hogan's T-shirt off. However when Andre grabbed Hogan's shirt, he accidentally grabbed Hogan's crucifix too and yanked that off as well. Is this true?

Personally, I think ripping the crucifix off too added even more weight to the angle. It's as if Andre was saying "I'm not just done with you. I'm done with everything about you."
