3rd Man in the nWo?

I remember reading awhile ago that Hogan wasn't supposed to be the 3rd man in the nWo at Bash at the Beach 1996. Who did WCW originally have in mind?
Hulk Hogan. There were some rumoured backup plans and false starts like Bret Hart and Sting and British Bulldog, but the whole deal was made for Hogan as the payoff.
