Macho Man as IC champ in 88

Hi Scott,
If Randy Savage was supposed to win the IC title from Honky Tonk Man at The Main Event in february 1988, then what’s the plans for him at Wrestlemania IV? Still in the tournament or defending the title? Really, i can’t imagine another scenario than him winning the world title.
He was going to be in the tournament and lose before the finals, according to the originally released bracket.
