Ambrose/Rollins… Wah Happah?

By Scott Keith on 22 December 2018

Hey Scott—

I was at TLC live on Sunday. You are absolutely correct about the misplaced chants, but hey, San Jose is the classy town that invented “You suck Cena/You suck Punk” so what can you do?

I wanted to ask you about the Ambrose/Rollins match. It truly was interminable to sit through live, like an episode of Raw encapsulated in one match. What on earth happened there? These guys have proven they can deliver the goods against each other, and they have a storyline that can provide emotional investment. Any thoughts about why we got that borefest on Sunday?

Dave actually talked about it on Observer Radio, and the storyline was SUPPOSED to be that Ambrose is the crazy man and Rollins is the calm wrestler who won't let anyone shake him from his gameplan. So it was supposed to be Rollins deliberately working a normal wrestling match and Ambrose being all wildman and finally getting Rollins rattled enough to hit his move and win. However, the announcers didn't tell that story, and the crowd didn't understand that story, and Rollins was already a crazy wild man who was rattled on the RAW shows leading up to TLC. Apparently Vince was pissed off with both guys after the show, too, and hated the match. As Dave noted on the show, Rollins is playing himself right out of the Brock game at this point.
