Becky’s not Austin… She’s Punk

Hey Scott – I know you like to shit all over the 'Becky is the new Austin’ comparisons, and i agree it’s nonsense, but would it be fair to compare her (since nothing can be its own thing, I guess) to CM Punk? Granted, she hasn’t had the ‘pipe bomb’ promo so to speak, but the promos and character I’m reminded of most is Punk – specifically during the Summer of Punk. Hottest act in the company (heel or face), cuts great promos, is having very good to great matches regularly… She even complains about being held back by/overlooked because of the chosen one, Charlotte (her Cena). I’m sure it was kayfabed a little but she brought it up on the E&C podcast last week with Charlotte being on the poster for SS even though Becky's “the freaking champ.” Based on this, I’m expecting the next thing is for Steph to step in and crush her momentum with a clean victory via kick, wham, Pedigree. Thanks, as always.
Ooh, good call. I’d say the Punk comparison is dead on.
