From the Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, PA
Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect
Gene Okerlund is on the interview platform and welcomes Razor Ramon. Okerlund tries to ask a question but Razor cuts him off to ask Savage where is gold went because he still has is around his neck. Razor then tells Savage he lost his mind for wanting to fight him and ends by tossing his toothpick into the camera. A brief but effective interview as Razor’s delivery and mannerisms are among the best in the company.
Crush vs. Duane Gill
Crush beats down Gill then we see him in an insert promo speaking in his Hawaiian accent about taking care of anyone who gets in his way. Crush then sends Gill outside with a punch and hops out to press slam Gill back inside then uses a head vice for the win (2:54).
Thoughts: The push of Crush as a Hawaiian continues. He was teaming with Animal for a couple of weeks but Animal got hurt and their last match together seems to have taken place on 10/2 during the European tour.
Nailz vs. Gus Kantarakis
Nailz beats down Kantarakis and chokes him out as the announcers put over how he is dangerous. Vince says Nailz is ready to take a ride down to Cobb County, GA as Nailz uses more choking before the choke hold gets the win as Vince says we will see footage from Bob Backlund next (2:04).
Thoughts: More hype for the eventual confrontation between Nailz as Bossman now that Bossman has returned. They’ve held off for way too long on this feud. Nailz attacked Bossman on the 5/30 edition of Superstars and Bossman has been back for about two months so this has been stretched out far too thin by just using promos.
The Bob Backlund video from last week’s “Wrestling Challenge” is shown hyping his return to the company.
Clip from two wees ago when Paul Bearer pushed a coffin down to ringside and scared Kamala to the point Kamala took off through the crowd.
The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer vs. Von Krus
Undertaker ties up Krus in the ropes and hammers away. He then hits a clothesline and stays in control until the tombstone gets the win (1:43). After the match, Krus is stuffed inside of a body bag as we then see a little girl dressed up as the Undertaker in the crowd.
Thoughts: More hype for another Kamala/Undertaker match as Vince mentioned that he’s sure Bearer has a bodybag big enough for Kamala.
Repo Man vs. Laverne McGill
Repo Man attacks McGill from behind after a break. He avoids a dropkick then works McGill over in the corner as Vince says next week we will learn about the Survivor Series main event. Repo Man stays in control as the announcers talk about the main event possibilities for Survivor Series then Repo Man uses a single leg crab for the win (3:45). After the match, Repo Man hogties McGill then hangs him in the ropes.
Thoughts: A long, dull squash match used as a back drop to hype next week’s Survivor Series main event announcement. It was hinted that Ric Flair would be involved.
We see a clip from last year’s Survivor Series where Ric Flair was the sole survivor of his match after everyone else was counted out. Flair was the captain of a team against Roddy Piper.
Natural Disasters vs. Barry Horowitz & Bob Bradley
Vince says that at the end of this match, Jimmy Hart will tell us which of his teams will be the #1 contenders. Horowitz tries to challenge Typhoon to a test-of-strength but is taken to his knees. Typhoon toys with Horowitz then Bradley tags in and hammers away. However, Typhoon blocks an Irish whip then tosses Bradley halfway across the ring. Earthquake tags in and beats on Bradley during a burst of offense and after that the Disasters hit a pair of splashes for the win (4:42).
Thoughts: Another long squash match as this was done to hype a teaser as to which team Jimmy Hart will grant a title shot.
Okerlund is backstage looking for Jimmy Hart. He sees WWF President Jack Tunney on the way. Hart tells Okerlund to leave him alone before saying there is no doubt Money Inc. can wipe out the Disasters but so can the Nasty Boys. Okerlund accuses him of talking out of both sides of his mouth and follows Hart into his room. So, Hart continues to play both sides but is now feeling the heat and will eventually have to name a team which I assume will take place in a match at the Survivor Series.
Ross Greenberg vs. “The Model” Rick Martel
Martel takes Greenberg down with a drop toe hold then does some jumping jacks. Perfect makes fun of Vince’s body then we see an insert of Martel in an insert promo claiming that all of the top fashion designers want him to model their clothes. Martel dumps Greenberg outside then brings him back in and hits a backbreaker before the Boston Crab gets the win (3:13).
Thoughts: It was funny to hear Vince get pissed over Perfect making fun of his physique but this was just a squash match to play up Martel’s model gimmick as he is without a feud at the moment.
Next week in action are Bret Hart, Razor Ramon, Kamala, and Nailz. Plus the announcement of the Survivor Series main event.
Final Thoughts: The big news here is that next week we will find out about the Survivor Series main event. Seeing that the top storyline going is the Ultimate Maniacs vs. Flair & Razor its almost a given they will be against each other one way or another. Besides that they advanced the #1 Tag Team Title storyline as we are now focused on building up to the PPV.
