WWF Superstars of Wrestling – April 11th, 1992

April 11, 1992

From the Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, AL

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Mr. Perfect. Vince mentions the Ultimate Warrior returning at WrestleMania then Perfect accuses Randy Savage of cheating to beat Ric Flair.

We are shown Savage & Elizabeth celebrating as we see that WrestleMania VIII will be available on Coliseum Home Video April 23rd. We also see that Bret Hart won the IC Title, The Undertaker beat Jake Roberts as Vince says his fate was sealed in a coffin. We are also shown Papa Shango in the locker room laughing while we see skulls and flames then the aftermath of the Hogan vs. Sid match as Vince says we can only speculate to the future of Hogan and Warrior.

Now, we hear Sid Justice say how he was just this close to ending Hulkamania until the Ultimate Warrior stuck his nose in his business. Sid then says he is begging Warrior to come to him face to face. We then hear from Warrior as he says since sitting around once SummerSlam ended but the Hulkamaniac spoke to him and said to go to WrestleMania.

Barry Horowitz vs. “The Rocket” Owen Hart

Vince asks Perfect who would win between Sid and Warrior as he selects Sid. Hart takes Horowitz down with a springboard arm drag then hits a dropkick. Vince tells us that of late, Owen has been teaming with Koko B. Ware as Perfect talks about Elizabeth still wanting Flair. Owen then catches Horowitz with a belly-to-belly before hitting a splash for the win (1:30).

Thoughts: This was mostly a backdrop for the announcers to talk about WrestleMania fallout but Vince stating Owen has been teaming with Koko lately is code for the two becoming a new act.

Papa Shango vs. Mike Casey

Much like when Undertaker made his debut, the crowd shows fans looking scared during Shango’s entrance. Shango does not possess the same aura though. Vince talks about a potential Shango vs. Undertaker match. Shango beats on Casey then hits a slam and an elbow drop as the camera zooms in on his smoking scull. Shango stays in control then hits a reverse shoulderbreaker for the win (1:28).

Thoughts: Vince hinted at a Shango vs. Undertaker feud but no mention of him running out to attack Hogan at WrestleMania.

We get an ad for the WBF Bodystars show.

A vignette of a prison cell is shown with someone telling Big Bossman he is getting out and that they will “lockup” soon.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter vs. Doug Somers & Larry Stevenson

Duggan & Slaughter play rock, paper, scissors to determine who starts off the match. How cute. Duggan wins then catches Somers with a slam. Vince tells Perfect that Savage has the real photos with Elizabeth as Perfect said Savage is lying and if Savage knew they were true why didn’t he come out with them from the start. Slaughter now beats on Stevenson then Duggan hits a clothesline for the win (1:38).

Thoughts: The announcers hinted at Savage coming up with a way to prove Flair’s photos were wrong.

WWF Update with Gene Okerlund. We see the finish to the Flair/Savage match at WrestleMania then how Flair kissed Elizabeth and got slapped. After that, we hear from Perfect & Flair as they call out Savage for cheating. Flair tells Savage that he did not win his wife’s honor but rather open up a keg of dynamite as Flair challenges Savage to try and beat him again. Flair then tells Elizabeth he will kiss her wet, moist lips one more time.

Dale Wolfe vs. Shawn Michaels w/ Sensational Sherri

Vince tells us that Sherri was singing the theme song. We get a shoving match then Shawn slaps Wolfe and gets chased around until he stomps Wolfe. Shawn stays in control then hits a teardrop suplex for the win (1:47).

Thoughts: A quick win for Shawn to build him up as the #1 contender to the IC Title.

Paul Ellering is shown somewhere in a run-down part of Chicago. Ellering said the Legion of Doom was formed her and that they stood on the ground of honor. The LoD walk in and flank Ellering as Ellering says he is the detail man that makes a good team great as the LoD now call out the Beverly Brothers & The Genius. The theme was that the LoD are from the street while the Beverly Brothers grew up pampered. Ellering then said they earn their money the old fashioned way, by beating people up. I liked the style of the segment but having the LoD call out the Beverly Brothers at random for this is not that exciting to me.

Bill Golden vs. The Mountie w/ Jimmy Hart

The Mountie sings his theme song now. He beats down Golden as Vince says Mountie will soon face Sgt. Slaughter. Mountie then catches Golden with a dropkick and that gets the win (1:19). Mountie shocks Golden with the cattle prod after the match.

Thoughts: Vince hinted at a Slaughter/Mountie feud and that’s something I don’t want to see but at the same time means the end of the Slaughter & Duggan team.

We see Elizabeth on the cover of the newest “WWF Magazine.”

Howard Finkel informs us that Shawn Michaels has left the building. Vince does not care.

Sonny Trout vs. The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer

Vince once gain mentions Undertaker facing Papa Shango. Undertaker beats down Trout then hits his ropewalk attack before the Tombstone gets the win (1:43). After the match, Undertaker stuffs Trout into a bodybag and delivers a stomp.

Thoughts: The announcers kept using fish puns throughout the match and it was actually funny. More talk of a potential Shango/Undertaker feud.

Next week, the “Piper’s Pit” will return with guest Randy Savage. And that never ended up taking place. The Pit was supposed to replace both the Barber Shop and Funeral Parlor but they did it at the next set of TV tapings and it never made it to air.

Final Thoughts: All of the WrestleMania VIII fallout was discussed and they set up a few other feuds and directions as well. Flair/Savage is still going and Sid/Warrior looks to be the new top feud.
