From the Brown County Arena in Green Bay, WI
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, and Jim Neidhart
In action this week are The Undertaker, Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase, Bret Hart, and The Berzerker. Plus, Legion of Doom as guests on the “Barber Shop” and more!
The Rockers vs. Tom Stone & Tom Bennett
The Rockers work over Stone to start. Shawn gets trapped in the wrong corner but fights back as The Rockers now beat on Bennett. The Rockers stay in control then pin Bennett with a Rocket Launcher (2:38).
Thoughts: Quick match to put over The Rockers. No mention of their program against the Orient Express.
WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. Clip of Earthquake attacking Andre the Giant on “Superstars of Wrestling.” We then hear Jimmy tell Andre he made a fool of him on National TV why Earthquake says Andre will not even be able to crawl back to the ring.
Rick Rice vs. Bret “The Hitman” Hart
Heenan proclaims that Andre is finished while Neidhart tells us the skull and wings on the back of Bret’s tights means something “deep” but does not want to go into the details. Bret takes control and says he has easily made the transition from tag team to singles wrestling and missing just one thing: a championship belt around his waist. Bret hits a backbreaker then puts Rice away with the Sharpshooter (2:13).
Thoughts: On commentary they are presenting Bret as a new wrestler now that he is a singles wrestler.
The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer vs. Jim Evans
Undertaker beats on Evans as Bearer shakes his head in approval. He then hits a ropewalk forearm smash before the tombstone gets the win (1:29). After the match Evans gets stuffed inside of a bodybag.
Thoughts: Another win for Taker here as his program with the Ultimate Warrior continues.
Aaron Baker tells us about how he is going to win the WBF Championship. After they cut to announcers, Heenan says he looks like Michael Jackson as Gorilla tells him to get serious. Weird comment by Gorilla since Baker was hyped as that in Event Center segments.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Gary Wild
Wild is tall with a good physique. Unfortunately, he moves around like Ted Arcidi in the ring. Duggan hits a few clotheslines but Wild drags him outside. Duggan runs Wild into the post then rolls him inside for a slam then uses the Three Point Stance for the win (1:37).
Thoughts: Duggan continues to meander in a feud with Col. Mustafa.
Ultimate Warrior tells us about being at the Nutrition Fitness Expo.
“Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase w/ Sensational Sherri vs. Dave Sigfrits
Sigfrits manages a dropkick but eats boot on a charge. DiBiase beats on Sigfrits as Neidhart calls Sherri “ugly” before DiBiase uses the Million Dollar Dream for the win (1:40). After the match, DiBiase pulls a $100 bill from Sherri’s thigh and puts it in Sigfrits’ mouth. Sherri then takes it back.
Thoughts: At this time the commentators were quite nasty towards Sherri in an attempt to put her over as a heel. DiBiase’s feud against his former bodyguard Virgil continues.
Randy Savage also will be at the Nutrition Fitness Expo.
Barber Shop with guests the Legion of Doom. The LoD talk about growing up in Chicago and growing up rough but that the Nasty Boys set a bad example for all of the “Little Doomers” in the WWF. Hawk says the Nasty Boys look like “transients” and that Chicago is a lot different than the Nasty Boys town and says sooner or later the Nasty Boys will have to face them in the ring and the road they travel will be the road to ruin. Hawk then pulls out a brush and says “ooooooooooo, what a brush.” That was funny. Decent interview by the LoD.
The Berzerker w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Warren Bianchi
Berzerker tosses Bianchi around as Heenan says Berzerker will be on “Prime Time Wrestling.” We then hear from Berzerker with Fuji in an insert promo as he cannot wait to get his hands on everyone in the WWF. Berzerker then tosses Bianchi outside and wins via countout (1:19).
Thoughts: More hype for “Prime Time Wrestling” than anything else. Berzerker’s character is still getting established I guess but the stuff is repetitive and not getting over.
Another ad for the WBF Championship airs.
We are shown Sid Justice smiling again.
Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. Brooklyn Brawler
Jake takes control as we hear him in an insert promo vowing to payback Earthquake for killing Damien. Heenan is telling us that pet owners are weak-minded people for needing something to boss around as Jake hits the DDT for the win (1:36). After the match, Jake puts Lucifer on top of Brawler.
Thoughts: The Jake/Earthquake feud continues.
Next week in action are The Warlord, Big Bossman, The Dragon, and Irwin R. Schyster. Also, Andre the Giant as guest on the “Barber Shop” and various WWF stars give their thoughts on Sid Justice.
Final Thoughts: Again, there was just as much focus on the WBF than the actual wrestling. Nothing really worth seeking out here.
