From the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, MO
Your hosts are Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon
This week, we will see Tito Santana vs. Rick Martel. Also in action are Sgt. Slaughter, Jimmy Snuka, and Saba Simba plus an interview with The Ultimate Warriors Survivor Series team.
“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka vs. Black Bart
We get some back-and-forth to start. We then hear from The Vipers Survivor Series team in an insert promo as Jake tells The Visionaries they will all pay. Snuka then heads up top for a flying headbutt then hits a regular splash (not top rope) for the win (2:42).
Thoughts: Just some hype for the Vipers vs. Visionaries match at the Survivor Series. Heenan got a few cracks in on Snuka too.
WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. It focuses on last week’s Ten Minute Challenge between Ted DiBiase and Dustin Rhodes then we hear from DiBiase’s and Dusty’s Survivor Series teams to hype up that match.
Mike Shelton vs. Mr. Perfect w/ Bobby Heenan
Gorilla hypes the new edition of “WWF Magazine” with the Texas Tornado on the cover. Perfect beats on Shelton then Demolition heads out to watch their team captain get the win with a Perfect Plex (2:09). After the match, Heenan helps Shelton to his feet so Perfect can knock him down.
Thoughts: More generic Survivor Series hype while they remind us that the Perfect/Tornado feud is continuing.
Gene Okerlund is sitting in front of the giant egg that will hatch at the Survivor Series. He asks a few kids what it is inside and responses are money and a “Million Dollar Surprise.” One of the kids could not even come up with an answer.
Sgt. Slaughter w/ Gen. Adnan, Boris Zhukov, Orient Express, and Mr. Fuji vs. Gary Jackson
Crowd starts up a “USA” chant to piss off the heels. Slaughter takes control early and dumps Jackson on the ropes with a suplex. He then busts out a standing dropkick and a front suplex then soon after that uses a Camel Clutch for the win (2:10).
Thoughts: The crowd was into crapping on the heels here as they are showing the teams as united before the Survivor Series.
Gene Okerlund is with The Ultimate Warriors Survivor Series Team. He asks them about Demolition’s masks but the LoD do not care and say their efforts in trying to confuse them are not working. They all promise victory then Warrior asks Randy Savage if he can survive as they will meet after the Survivor Series. Since Warrior is feuding with Savage and no one on the Perfect Team it just feels like a waste. They really did not do Warrior any favors while he was champion. Who would get excited over this Survivor Series match?
“The Model” Rick Martel vs. Tito Santana
Martel stalls to start as the announcers debate over the scent of Arrogance. Santana fires away then grabs a side headlock but Martel eventually shoves him outside. Heenan blames Santana for Strike Force splitting up as Martel is now choking out his former partner in the corner. Jake Roberts is now making his way to the ring runs in but grabs Santana first as he cannot see. Martel gets knocked outside then the bell rings for the DQ (3:49) *. After the match, Santana calms down Jake as Martel mocks Jake from the outside. Santana gives Jake the mic and Jake tells Martel while he cannot see him, he can smell him and his day will come.
Thoughts: Not much of a match as it was mostly stalling and cheap heel tactics before Jake ran out for the DQ. I liked the finish as it shows that Jake is back and this is probably the hottest TV feud in the company at the moment.
Survivor Series Report with Gene Okerlund.
Saba Simba vs. Dale Wolfe
The announcers bring up DiBiase’s surprise partner in the Survivor Series as Simba tosses Wolfe around. Gorilla then taunts Heenan about the Big Bossman as Simba hits a clothesline then works a chinlock before the “Ugandan or Nairobi” drop gets the win (2:01).
Thoughts: The action was terrible and the announcers kept trying to figure out the name of his finisher and just rattled off a bunch of African cities and countries
Next week in action are Tugboat and the Texas Tornado. Plus, we will see Ted DiBiase vs. Koko B. Ware and more!
Final Thoughts: We are still getting generic, uninspired Survivor Series hype. Add to that with disappointing feuds and weak depth in the main event scene and you get a cold promotion.
