Do you have any insight as to why WWE has such a difficult time coming up with good match finishes these days? Was Pat Patterson just really that important in that regard or is it just a matter of the newer generation of writers don’t have a feel for how to end matches effectively? I remember reading about Jim Cornette and his binder of match finishes and just thinking there is no way any way in the company today pays that much attention to detail.
They have clever ones now and then these days, but the increasing reliance on the crutches of Distraction Rollup Finish, Heel Walks Out Finish and Some B------- Happens So The Match Just Ends Finish are really grating. I think it’s just an issue with agents today learning their craft in an era where wins and losses don’t matter, because the whole economy of the business is completely different now.
