From the Civic Center in Wheeling, WV
Your hosts are Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Vince McMahon
This week, the Tag Team Titles are on the line as The Brainbusters defend the titles against Demolition. Also in action are Dusty Rhodes, Jim Duggan, and the Powers of Pain. Plus, the King’s Court Survivor Series team as guests of the “Brother Love Show” and more.
Dusty Rhodes vs. George South
Odd seeing this matchup take place on WWF TV. Dusty beats on South then tosses him outside. We hear from the Big Bossman as he talks about punishing Dusty at the Survivor Series as Dusty stays in control. Dusty works a chinlock and after that finishes off South with an elbow drop (2:30).
Thoughts: More hype for Survivor Series and the Dusty/Bossman feud.
WWF Update with Gene Okerlund. This week’s focus is on Mr. Perfect as we see him do a bunch of dives off of a diving board with The Genius looking on in delight and finishes with them calling out Hulk Hogan.
Powers of Pain w/ Mr. Fuji vs. Tim Horner & Mike Powell
Horner tries to get in some offense against the Barbarian but fails. Powell tags in and gets destroyed until Warlord lifts him up and the Barbarian comes off the top with a clothesline for the win (2:48).
Thoughts: The Powers of Pain get a win as they are being pushed as part of the Million Dollar Team at the Survivor Series. Horner got hurt shortly after this aired at a house show and would not return to the company.
Sean Mooney is in the Event Center to hype the 11/19 Hartford Civic Center show. The Bushwhackers talk about how they hate the Bolsheviks then the Powers of Pain & Mr. Fuji want Demolition to win the belts this week so they can beat them for the titles.
Rick Martel w/ Slick vs. Reno Riggins
They end up in a stalemate after some mat work and it happens again as Martel is upset. Martel is then shown in an insert promo as he promises to embarrass Brutus Beefcake at the Survivor Series. Martel takes control and hammers away. He cuts off a comeback attempt then dodges a corner splash then hits a backbreaker and puts Riggins away with the Boston Crab (4:05).
Thoughts: This was a fun match. Riggins was always solid in the ring and Martel was awesome at this time.
We hear from the Ultimate Warriors Survivor Series Team as they talk about their opponents, The Heenan Family.
Jesse plugs the 1990 WWF Calendar.
Barry Horowitz vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan w/ Ronnie Garvin & Bret Hart & Hercules
Duggan’s Survivor Series Team accompanies him and also carry out 2×4’s. Horowitz attacks Duggan before the bell but Duggan fights back. He stays in control until getting the win with a Three Point Stance (2:16). After the match, Duggan’s teammates get into the ring and they all do some drill work with the 2×4’s.
Thoughts: Just a match to put over the 4×4’s team unity although the stuff at the end was incredibly corny.
Brother Love Show with guests the King’s Court. He interrupted the 4×4’s routine then Savage and the others call out Duggan, who is yelling from the ring then leads his men to the set but the King’s Court bails. The 4×4’s then chant “survive” into the microphone.
Survivor Series Report with Gene Okerlund. He runs down the card and we hear from the teams.
WWF Tag Team Title Match: The Brainbusters (c) w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Demolition
Arn knees Smash as the Brainbusters beat on Smash in the corner. Smash escapes then the match breaks down as Demolition clears the ring. Demoliton beats on Tully then Arn tags and does not fare any better. Tully chop blocks Smash when he was trying to suplex Arn then tags in and hammers away. The Brainbusters work over Smash for a bit. Smash reverses Tully’s suplex attempt as both men are down. Smash finally tags out as Ax runs wild on Arn. The match breaks down then Demolition hits Tully with the Decapitation for the win (5:29) *1/2 .
Thoughts: Demolition regains the Tag Team Titles in easy fashion here. The Brainbusters giving their notice at these tapings helped make it easier too.
Mooney is once again in the Event Center to hype the 11/19 Hartford Civic Center show. Rick Rude runs down Roddy Piper to hype up their Lumberjack Match then Dusty Rhodes promises to hand out justice to the Big Bossman.
Next week in action are Ted DiBiase, Jimmy Snuka, Mr. Perfect, and Roddy Piper. Plus, a test-of-strength between Dino Bravo and the Ultimate Warrior as we hear from both men.
Final Thoughts: The big news here was the Tag Team Title switch. Other than that it was a ton of Survivor Series hype as that is the theme of these shows until the PPV.
