I’d be remiss in not mentioning that yesterday was the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest promos in the history of professional wrestling. (Yes, I feel old)
You were talking on the Observer flashback thread about how watching something awesome in wrestling would get you excited and after it was over, you’d watch other great wrestling matches. In that regard, I still get goosebumps watching this promo and the birth of Austin 3:16, knowing where it would all lead. It’s nice to remember once and a while why you got into this in the first place.
Bonus: This was pretty cool. Kofi does a decent Stone Cold
Yeah, RSPW was pretty obnoxious for a while after this one, with everyone being all "blah blah 3:16 says blah blah" and diminishing returns on the joke each time. I should note that Dave totally undersells the moment in the Observer at the time, too. For me at the time, I didn’t think it was going to instantly make him a huge star. It was the Attitude video where he was threatening Bret Hart in the warehouse where I was like "HOLY F---, this dude is about to explode like a supernova".
And WWE posted a whole series of guys doing their version of the promo to YouTube. It was pretty funny, actually.
