WCW Wednesday Part VIII – RSG takes Manhattan!

OK, so I have neither a machete nor a goalie’s mask, but depending on circumstances within, WCW would  be either cutting edge or cut up into little pieces. Thus, the subtitle works for the upcoming holiday.

Let’s finish out 2015 with the best Starrcade matches.

1983 – Harley Race versus Ric Flair for the NWA World title

1983 – Gerry and Jack Brisco versus Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood for the NWA World tag team titles

1984 – Tully Blanchard versus Ricky Steamboat

1985 – Tully Blanchard versus Magnum T.A. for the NWA US title

1985 – Ivan & Nikita Koloff versus Rock’n’Roll Express for the NWA World tag team titles

1986 – Rock’n’Roll Express versus Ole & Arn Anderson for the NWA World tag team titles

1987 – Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard versus the Road Warriors for the NWA World tag team titles

1988 – Ric Flair versus Lex Luger for the NWA World title

1989 – Steiners versus the Road Warriors

1990 – Sting versus the Black Scorpion

1992 – Sting versus Vader for the King of Cable

1993 – Vader versus Ric Flair

1994 – Jim Duggan versus Vader

1995 – Shinjiro Otani versus Eddie Guerrero

1995 – Jushin Liger versus Chris Benoit

1996 – Ultimo Dragon versus Dean Malenko

1997 – Dean Malenko versus Eddie Guerrero for the WCW Cruiserweight title

1998 – Billy Kidman versus Juventud Guerrera versus Rey Mysterio, Jr. for the WCW Cruiserweight title

2000 – Three Count versus Jung Dragons versus Jamie Noble & Evan Karagis

Yes, 1991 and 1999 were skipped for obvious reasons. So which one is your favorite? Which one stands out from the rest? Do you have a top 5? Am I missing a particular match that you prefer?

My favorites are the following:

  1. Blanchard/Magnum from ‘85
  2. Otani/Guerrero from ‘95
  3. Koloffs/R&R Express from ‘85
  4. Liger/Benoit from ‘95
  5. Vader/Flair from ‘93

Happy New Year from your favorite Rock Star!
