Monday Night Open Mic

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

I have to admit I’m a little excited for this RAW. It has some serious train wreck potential if things go wrong.

I wish I was more excited about Summerslam. The Cena-Lesnar match should be excellent if they can channel the brawl they had two years ago and even have Cena go further into the underdog babyface role (albeit with different end results). Even with the stipulation I have high hopes for Ambrose-Rollins. No such hopes for Brie-Stephanie other than to say that the McMahons usually give good performances at PPVs and Steph is no exception. She’s had some fun brawls with Trish, Lita and hell her match with Vince was sort of entertaining.

Otherwise not a lot going on, I finally heard all of the Edge/Jericho/Heyman podcast and Heyman is such an intriguing figure because he’s a great storyteller and you don’t know what’s real and what he’s bullshitting you about. Usually it’s a little of both.

However listening to it made me think that this company needs Brand Extension more than ever and if Smackdown moves to Thursdays…and the talks of taping Smackdown on the same night as a live RAW materialize than the extension will have to happen. There’s just too many guys that aren’t getting the work they need and that leads to interesting ideas being scrapped in a week — like the rebooted NoD tease. The company needs new stars and more than that they need depth of stars on the roster. Guys like Bray Wyatt were hot at the beginning of the year but he’s tapered off and even comes across a little stale these days (I get it…he’s got the whole world in his hands) could use a new environment to re-establish themselves and you can’t tell me Cesaro doesn’t need to re-establish himself on a ‘B’ show.

Anyway that’s all I got for this week. TV tonight
