Sunday Matinee – August 4th, 2013

Greetings.

Before we get to today’s matinee question, I’d like to announce that I stepped into the year 2006 and got a twitter account. You can find me @CaliberWinfield, and get direct links to all my updates, and hear about how upset I am that they remade Robocop. I mean, who wouldn’t want to follow me?

Today’s question should cause some conflicting opinions;

Greatest sequel? I’m leaning towards Expendables 2. The first 10 minutes made all the references to the original it needed to, as sort of a way to say thanks to the fans. They then built on the characters further, introduced others, and ramped up the one-liners, action, and humor. It was everything that a sequel is suppose to be.

Also, big mention to Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, which improved on the original in just about every way imaginable. Also, Friday The 13th: Part 6 – Jason Lives. There’s so much to say about that movie that I would be here all day if I were to talk about all of it’s high points. Fantastic atmosphere, ingenious kills & effects, and a perfect blend of humor. Awesome film.

How say you?
