Monday Night Open Mic

“Now I’ve got the opportunity to come out here and be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame of Wrestling. Something I’ve loved all my life. Yeah, I got three bucks. Why did I stay? It was a job, I had to. I was feeding my mother, my grandmother and my aunt. I had to feed people. And myself. So you just stayed. So it wasn’t the money and it wasn’t because the people I had to feed. Because I love this. I love you and I love them. That’s what it’s about. That’s what the whole thing is about!”

— Bobby “The Brain” Heenan (2004 Hall of Fame Speech)

For the millions of one-liners (and I swear they have all been repeated in the past 24 hours) that’s probably the one that touches me the most. It’s unfortunate he dealt with problems that didn’t allow him to do what he loved to do, what he was put on earth today, over the last several years before his death.

Anyway RAW is live tonight, I expect they will have a wonderful tribute to Heenan and they have promoted Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax as a main portion of the card. Apparently Cena nor Brock are advertised. Pretty sure Cena was on the tour of China so that makes sense.

As for other things on TV. Monday Night Football is Giants vs. Lions and Dancing With the Stars premieres so my DVR will be full.

Hope you all had a good weekend, especially those that got to enjoy a holiday today.

Here is a preview of RAW tonight from Bleacher Report, the big cage match between Braun and Show will be headlining this one.

There’s another college football game on tonight as Tennessee takes on Georgia Tech from the Falcons’ newfangled stadium in Atlanta that the WWE will surely run Wrestlemania in soon and kayfabe an attendance record.

RAW will be live during holiday season too!

Of course I hope my peeps on the Gulf Coast and southeast Atlantic are keeping an eye on Irma.

Little early for the Monday night thread but I hope you don’t mind. Wishing the BoD’ers around the SE coast Texas the best as they deal with the mess from Harvey. Hope everyone else had a good weekend and those that purchased the fight enjoyed it. I’ll say the best part of the fight was having a lot of friends come over and enjoy plenty of food and drink. Always love gathering like that.

Anyway RAW Is live tonight and I don’t have a clue of what PPVs are on the horizon so maybe this will be a good show, maybe it won’t. Plenty of baseball tonight with the big Yankees-Indians tilt on ESPN. No preseason NFL tonight. If you want to laugh for two hours, Blazing Saddles comes on TCM later tonight. That movie still cracks me up no matter how many times I see it.

Hope you all had a great weekend despite the problems with the site and hopefully many of you enjoyed the solar eclipse today. It was about 80% where I lived and since it wasn’t so cloudy here (as is normal during summer midday before the rain comes in) it was a pretty impressive sight to see.

RAW is live with the fallout from Summerslam. The first half of the main card wasn’t great, the second half was better. Liked the RAW woman’s match, liked the RAW tag match, loved the main event. I would suggest everyone go see the Usos-New Day match from the pre-show. Easily the best match to ever be on a pre-show and one of the best tag matches I’ve seen in a very long time.

Otherwise we’ve got some little league baseball, some big league baseball, some preseason NFL and plenty of eclipse coverage on PBS and other places.

Sometimes you’re just happy the weekend is over so you can enjoy and entertain yourself debating the silliness of worked sports entertainment. This might be one of those times. Anyway this is the “go home” week for Summerslam and RAW tonight has all the big guns you can imagine in the same building with a Sasha vs. Nia match to determine Alexa Bliss’ opponent for the women’s title.

Beyond that there’s continued monitoring of Ric Flair. ESPN reported that Flair was out of surgery and resting comfortably.

Mets-Yankees on ESPN, no preseason football tonight I believe. Some smutty reality TV show is premiering as well. All kinds of options.

I hope you’ve all had an amazing Monday and are ready for some good ol’ fashioned sports entertainment. Tonight RAW is live and we’ve got Roman vs. Braun Part 139, a last-man standing match. And a couple of triple threats to determine a women’s challenger since Bayley is on the shelf with a shoulder injury. Storyline says Nia should win but REAL storyline says Sasha should win. With our luck it’ll be Dana Brooke.

Outside of wrestling there are a few baseball games on, no preseason NFL until Wednesday.

Outside of sports if there are any serious history buffs here PBS has the preview for their massive Vietnam War documentary next month which is likely to win every single documentary award on the circuit in 2018.

Hope all of you are having a great Monday! It’s been raining here all day thanks to this little storm that rolled through the area earlier in the day and made traveling quite difficult.

Anyway RAW is Live tonight and the push for one of the more impressive PPV main events in recent memory should continue. Unfortunately we’re past the days of keeping ’em separated to build to the big clash because apparently there’s a triple-threat scheduled between Braun, Joe and Roman and with Brock apparently in the house there’s a chance they will just go all out for the hard sell and have all four men in the ring at some point.

If RAW doesn’t fit you there are some baseball games on and most of your other favorite network shows are on summer hiatus so watch a replay of “Ballers” or “Naked and Afraid” or something.

Thank God we get a night off before watching the stills and fallout from last night’s stinker of a Network special. July wasn’t a good month for such events. Great Balls of Fire had some good build but failed to live up to expectations. Battleground had no such expectations and still managed to under deliver.

RAW is live. There are a few baseball games if rasslin’ isn’t your thing.

Enjoy the night and keep it clean!

Not much going on this Monday so check the various updates below. Tonight RAW is live and the big Angle announcement is coming.

They are also promising a live Angle interview on the Network post RAW as the fallout from whatever the announcement is going to be.

So all that being said, KEEP IT CLEAN!

Howdy Blog O’Doomers!

Hope your Monday has been tremendous. I had pretty high hopes for the PPV last night and while I didn’t have much of a problem with the matches, I didn’t really like some of the finishes.

Rollins-Wyatt was a perfectly acceptable opener. Neither guy is doing much so they can not do much together for a few months.

Enzo-Cass…eh, as expected most of the BO’Ders really shit on Cass last night but I don’t think he did anything particularly bad or good. He was there. Giving Enzo one or two hope spots would have helped the match greatly. Enzo might be done but we’ll see. Cass is in a bad spot because he’s not ready for much more than midcard right now. In hindsight they could have had Cass go singles and still been a face. He’d still have Enzo as a mouthpiece and as a face chasing the I-C title he might’ve worked a little better.

Tag match was probably my favorite on the card. Hardys probably need to drop down and do something with The Revival now to build them up. Not sure where Sheamus-Cesaro go because there are a lot of face tag teams out there.

Sasha-Bliss was a perfectly decent match and a good showing for Sasha IMO overall. Bliss is a great character, good mic work, great mannerisms in the ring. As a wrestler she’s got a long way to go but performance is half the battle.

Mis-Ambrose was more of the same. No reason to believe Dean was going to win in a 1 vs. 4 situation.

Roman-Braun was fine until the finish. I like watching these two guys and they have good chemistry. However the finish sucked. This is a blood feud and the badass heel shouldn’t win by a sidestep. Didn’t do anything for either guy.

Joe-Lesnar was fun, add in the pre-match attack and there was about 9-10 minutes of action. Would have liked a big title-saving kickout of a big move (maybe another Urange through a table or on a chair or something) rather than Brock just kind of hulking up and countering a choke into the F5. Still Joe looked good and it was all action.

The followup RAW is tonight. I’ll probably be watching the Home Run Derby and after that I’ll binge on the first two parts of “The Defiant Ones”. Maybe I’ll flip to RAW as I see fit depending on what I read in the comments.

So KEEP IT CLEAN!

We’re in between Canada Day and Independence Day so ummm Happy North American Day!

RAW is live tonight in Phoenix as part of a two-night TV stay in the city. All the main participants for Great Balls of Fire should be in the house tonight and with “free agent” John Cena on Smackdown tomorrow this is a pretty big couple of days for the WWE.

BIG3 is back in Charlotte this week. I watched some of it last week and I was pretty entertained. With the holiday weekend in full effect there isn’t a ton of new stuff on outside of live sports so find something to watch and enjoy it.

KEEP IT CLEAN!

Saturday Night Is Right for…Threading?

Well it’s 8:45 so you guys need a night thread. Actually we might be on single threads Saturday but I don’t remember and don’t feel like sifting through 1,600 comments so you get a new one!

Biggest event of the evening would be the Manny Pacquaio fight on ESPN.

And TNA is now GWF which means nothing to me because I didn’t watch either but Jeff Jarrett gets to stiff people on paychecks again so yay.

TGIF…Night Thread

It’s 8 p.m. EST and I don’t see a night thread posted so here’s one for you.

I’ve been working all day and couldn’t tell you what’s on TV. I’ll probably watch NXT to catch the women’s match. The highlights look like both women were lucky to avoid some nasty injuries.

For your viewing pleasure, the 1991 pilot of “Tagteam” starting Jesse Ventura and Roddy Piper.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA!
