Indies and Insanity: November 14, 2019

Your Team Sports update: the NFL’s Game of the Week of the Day is Pittsburgh/Cleveland.  College football has two games available: Buffalo plays Kent State on CBSSN, while ESPN features Pitt hosting Chapel Hill CC.  (Okay, hosting UNC, but I gotta get my shots in.)  Basketball has Mavericks/Knicks and Nets/Nuggets on TNT, while Towson faces Florida on ESPN2, and a Penn State/Georgetown and Michigan State/Seton Hall doubleheader is the highlight of the night on FS1.

And now after the jump, it’s your Independent Wrestling Roundup.

We don’t have much, but what we have is good stuff.

  • Tonight on IWTV, Beyond gives us another Uncharted Territory episode!  The Discovery Gauntlet title will be defended by Matt Makowski against Gary Jay!  Daniel Garcia is back to face John Silver!  CHIKARA Tag champs The Bird and the Bee will be in non-title action!  And in our main event, a women’s dream match as Kris Statlander faces Mercedes Martinez!
  • I’ll be watching in Washington, DC, on Saturday as Prime Time Pro presents Submission Without Representation!  Breaux Keller defends the big gold against O’Shay Edwards!  My man Isaiah Frazier faces Effy!  And in a match specifically designed to take 10 years off Jim Cornette’s life, Faye Jackson goes one-on-one with Joey Ryan!
  • Black Label Pro has their season finale on Saturday as they present Slamilton 2!  Kobe Durst defends the big gold against Blake Christian!  Blood Diamond defend the tag gold against Ethan Page and a mystery partner!  Jake Parnell defends the IWTV title against Tony Deppen!  Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku face JD Drake and Anthony Henry in a 30-minute marathon match!  And Logan James squares off against UFC superstar Stephen Bonnar!
  • Then on Sunday in Hamilton, ON, it’s A-1’s 10th season finale, Final Act!  Titles on the line everywhere, as Kobe Durst defends the A-1 title against Gregory Iron!  Rickey Shane Page defends the GCW title against Killer Kross!  Jake Parnell (assuming he wins the previous day) will defend the IWTV title against Danhausen and Mark Wheeler in a triple threat!  We have a seven-man scramble for the Outer Limits title!  And in a triple threat tag, The North defends against The Rascalz (Wentz/Xavier) and Fight or Flight!

I leave you here on a somber note, as last weekend the indie scene lost a rising star.  Matt Travis, who was quickly climbing the ladder in the New York scene, was struck and killed while out on a bike ride.  Tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the wrestling world, and in fact AEW is putting Santana and Ortiz against Private Party in a match that has already been dedicated to him on Twitter.  Here’s one of his better efforts, as he enters a GCW ring and takes on Jimmy Lloyd.  RIP Matt (1994-2019).  Gone too soon.

Keep it clean and bring the insanity.
