Ads on the competition’s station?

By Scott Keith on 25 September 2019

Last night on Smackdown AEW aired a commercial for their television show on TNT. I have always wondered about this since the Monday Night Wars; Why would a station/network allow the competition on a rival network to air an ad for their show? Is it some kind of law I didn't know about, or is it out of the stations hands?
Typically you don't buy ads for the entire country, you buy them on specific stations or even cable systems themselves that air in specific markets. Plus money is money, it's not like there's advertising directors looking at the ad and going "Hey! This is promoting some other wrestling show on another channel! Don't cash that cheque!" Business is just business.
