Thursday Night Thread: July 19, 2018

Been a bit of a quiet Thursday.  The big news is a bunch of new action figures revealed at SDCC.

Oh, right, and Cain Velasquez reported to the Performance Center.  No big deal.

Anyway, if you want to watch live wrestling this weekend, here are the highlights:

  • MLW will be in New York for Battle Riot tonight, highlighted by the title match — a 40-man Rumble (with pins/submissions also counting) for a Money-in-the-Bank style opportunity.  In addition, Low-Ki defends against Johnny Mundo and the Lucha Bros defend against Drago and Rey Horus.
  • CMLL may be hard to get to, but they have free wrestling every Friday on Claro.  I point it out because their highlight is a trios match of Mistico/Caristico/Dragon Lee against Pentagon Jr/Barbaro Cavernario/Negro Casas.
  • Shine will run show 52 in Florida on Friday.  Both the Nova and Tag titles will be on the line, but the main event is Rain vs Stormie Lee in an I Quit match, with Rain promising to leave Shine if she loses.
  • Two big shows in Illinois.  AAW United We Stand is Saturday night, with a huge six-man up top of ACH, Davey Vega, and Mat Fitchett against David Starr, Eddie Kingston, and Trevor Lee.
  • Then, Glory Pro runs Sunday afternoon, with Jake Something defending the big gold against Curt Stallion while Jake “Warhorse” Parnell faces Myron Reed to determine the next contender.
  • PWX and FEST are running a co-promotion show in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.  The main event is champion vs champion as Effy faces Ethan Case.
  • And if you want to plan out far enough ahead, PROGRESS is running Chapter 74 on Wednesday, with Travis Banks defending the title against WALTER in a match that cannot end by countout.

As for tonight, IMPACT is looking to have a pretty decent show, with Austin Aries and Moose having a final confrontation before Slammiversary this Sunday, plus Killer Kross vs Petey Williams and Joe Hendry vs Eli Drake.

Enjoy the night!
