From the Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, and Jim Neidhart,w ho are all wearing cowboy hats.
In action this week are Col. Mustafa, The Bushwhackers, Ted DiBiase, and the British Bulldog
“Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase w/ Virgil vs. Jason Anderson
Anderson lands a few shots but ends up running into a clothesline. DiBiase hits another clothesline then follows with a suplex as Virgil is shown in an insert promo saying his match at SummerSlam is personal as he will be ahead after taking away the Million Dollar Belt. DiBiase stays in control then uses the Million Dollar Dream for the win (1:38). After the match, Sherri reaches underneath her skirt to pull out a $100 bill then takes it out of Anderson’s mouth.
Thoughts: More hype for the DiBiase vs. Virgil Million Dollar Belt match at SummerSlam
WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. Same as “Superstars of Wrestling” that showed Jake Roberts training the Ultimate Warrior.
Ken Johnson vs. The Berzerker w/ Mr. Fuji
Berzerker beats down Johnson and stays in control. He ties Johnson in the ropes and delivers a big boot then hits a pair of falling slams before tossing Johnson outside and getting the win via count out (2:01).
Thoughts: Just a backdrop for the announcers to talk about the Jake/Warrior segment.
The Bushwhackers w/ Andre the Giant vs. Jim Peterson & Mike Starr
The Bushwhackers work over Starr as we hear from the Natural Disasters & Jimmy Hart in an insert promo as they promise to win at SummerSlam. The Bushwhackers stay in control then hit Starr with a double gutbuster for the win (1:40).
Thoughts: They continue to hype up Bushwhackers/Disasters with Andre being in Bushwhackers corner as the big draw but its just not working due to Andre’s rapidly deteriorated condition.
The Mountie w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Randy Thatcher
The announcers talk about how disgusting the New York City jail cells are as The Mountie uses his control techniques on Thatcher. Big Bossman is shown in an insert promo saying he promises Mountie will go to jail as Mountie hits a two-handed chokeslam for the win (1:11). After the match, Mountie cuffs Thatcher to the ropes then reads him his rights before using the cattle prod.
Thoughts: Fun fact about this. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were greatly offended at The Mountie character and even had prepared a lawsuit against the WWF. However, they settled on having The Mountie go by Jacques Rougeau in Canadian broadcasts.
The Hogan & Warrior interview from Superstars aired. This is when Sid Justice comes out to confront them.
British Bulldog vs. Bob Bradley
Bradley lands a few shots but Bulldog comes back with a crossbody. Bulldog then hits an atomic drop and a clothesline before he uses a running powerslam for the win (1:11).
Thoughts: An easy win for Bulldog who remains without a feud.
Col. Mustafa w/ Sgt. Slaughter & Gen. Adnan vs. Jeff Sanders
Mustafa hits a gutbuster as Heenan says Savage is signing his life away with this marriage. Mustafa then hits a gutwrench suplex before using a Camel’s Clutch for the win (1:16). After the match the Triangle of Terror beat on Sanders.
Thoughts: Its tough for any fan to buy Mustafa as a threat. Same applies for Adnan and it makes the SummerSlam main event quite weak as a result.
Next week in action are The Natural Disasters, The Rockers, The Undertaker, Bret Hart, and Sgt. Slaughter in a handicap match.
Final Thoughts: The two main segments from Superstars were shown and nothing else eventful happened besides that as we are three weeks away from the PPV.
