The New Japan Wrestle Kingdom 12 Live Watch Thread!

OK, we’ve finally come to January 4, and starting at 2am EST, it’s WRESTLE KINGDOM 12.

You can hang out in this thread if you’re braving the late night and talk about the show, or whatever.  It’s available in either English or Japanese on New Japan World live, and then on demand immediately after.  The service is 999 yen per month (about $8 US) and is well worth it.  Signup is pretty easy as well.

So here’s the deal:  My wife and child are actually going out of town on Thursday as it turns out, so if I can get one of my million streaming devices to cast it to my TV, I should be able to do a rant on it after work and have it posted for Friday morning.  She’s very understanding of my wrestling stuff, but 5 hours of Japanese wrestling would normally be asking a lot even for her. But since it’s just me and my big fat cat, it’s OMEGA TIME.

Here’s the full lineup:

  • IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada defending against Tetsuya Naito
  • IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega defending against Chris Jericho in a no DQ match
  • IWGP Intercontinental Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi defending against Jay White
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Marty Scurll defending against Will Ospreay, KUSHIDA, and Hiromu Takahashi in a four-way match
  • NEVER Openweight Champion Minoru Suzuki defending against Hirooki Goto in a hair vs. hair match where Suzuki-gun and Chaos are barred from ringside
  • IWGP Tag Team Champions Killer Elite Squad defending against SANADA & EVIL
  • Kota Ibushi vs. Cody (w/ Brandi Rhodes)
  • NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions Bad Luck Fale & Guerrillas of Destiny defending against Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano & Beretta, Togi Makabe, Juice Robinson & Ryusuke Taguchi, Michael Elgin & War Machine, and Zack Sabre Jr., Takashi Iizuka & Taichi in a gauntlet match
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Sho & Yoh defending against The Young Bucks
  • The New Japan Rumble (pre-show)

Check out Ioan’s preview here, and I’d also heartily recommend this mini-documentary on the rise and fall and rise of Naito.  It will seriously sell you on the main event in 20 minutes.
