March 18, 1990
From the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, AZ
Your hosts are Tony Schiavone and Gorilla Monsoon
In action this week are Big Bossman, Orient Express, Demolition, and the Hart Foundation. Plus, highlights from last week’s Hulk Hogan vs. Dino Bravo match and an interview with Macho King Randy Savage & Queen Sherri.
Demolition beat Dale Wolfe & Steve Desire in a match first aired on the 3/12 edition of “Prime Time Wrestling.”
WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes as we get the comments from Hogan and Warrior from the 3/17 edition of “Superstars of Wrestling.”
Rick “The Model” Martel vs. Omar Atlas
Martel tells us he loves who he is before catching Atlas with a dropkick. We hear from Koko B. Ware in an insert promo as he promises to hang Martel upside down at WrestleMania before Martel hits a bacbreaker then puts Atlas away with a Boston Crab (1:38).
Thoughts: A little bit of hype for one of the undercard matches at WrestleMania VI. And its really tough to buy Koko as having a chance to win.
Hart Foundation vs. Iron Mike Sharpe & Black Knight
Neidhart catches Sharpe with a slam then tosses Knight around. We hear from the Hart Foundation in an insert promo as they promise to destroy The Bolsheviks then challenge the Tag Team Title match winner to a future title match before they put Knight away with the Hart Attack (2:37).
Thoughts: An easy win for the Hart Foundation, who are being built up as the new #1 Tag Team Title contenders.
Gene Okerlund welcomes Macho King Randy Savage & Queen Sherri to the interview platform. They put over the fact its the first-mixed tag match in WrestleMania history then Sherri tells Sapphire promises to put her where she belongs. Not much of an interview, really. Both were just going through the motions.
Big Bossman vs. Black Bart
Both men fight over a lockup in the corner to start. Bossman wins that battle and takes Bart down with a back elbow smash. Gorilla plugs Bossman being on the cover of “WWF Magazine” before putting him away with a sidewalk slam, which Bart could not get up for and it looked more like a STO (1:14). After the match, Bossman cuffs Bart to the ropes and hits him with a nightstick.
Thoughts: The finish belongs on a “Botchamania” release. Bart was useless and a slug but Bossman’s face run is getting over with the crowd.
WrestleMania VI Report with Gene Okerlund.
Pez Whatley & Jim Powers vs. The Orient Express w/ Mr. Fuji
Powers tags out after a slam but Tanaka beats on Whatley as the Orient Express take control. They use quick tags to cut off the ring then we hear from The Rockers in an insert promo as they promise to “dictate foreign Policy” Rockers style. The Orient Express stay in control then Tanaka puts Whatley in a backslide as Sato comes off the top with a forearm smash as that gets the win (3:39).
Thoughts: The Orient Express looked fine in the ring but no one cared. They are just a new undercard heel team at this point.
In action next week are Jake Roberts, Dino Bravo, Mr. Perfect, and Brutus Beefcake.
Final Thoughts: More of the same WrestleMania VI hype as Challenge continues to show why its the “B” show compared to “Superstars of Wrestling.”
